I cannot play the game, since the message “Hearthstone has been updated! Please download the latest version” is shown on screen, even though the game is up to date.
I already tried with the “Check for Updates” option.

Yes, I also tried “scan and repair”, the problem persists.
I updated windows 8.1 to windows 10 and that fixed the problem. I hope that is a clue to find the bug.
Currently on windows 10 and I ran into the same issue this morning. Attempted scan and repair, check for update, uninstalled game and reinstalled. No luck. Decided to go ahead with a simple system reboot. Game updated on first try.
