The heroic chess event from One Night in Karazhan seems to have received some kind of AI upgrade (unintenionally? I really doubt this needed a tune-up!). It seems impossible to beat unless maybe all the stars align in your favor.
I’ve noted different strategies, watched speedrunning videos and even spoke to a world record holding speedrunner who could reliably beat this with on average only 1 reset 3 years ago. They tried it for me and said it’s definitely acting differently: especially regarding the excessive use of the “Cheat” hero power. It start to spam it from turn 2. In the past it was very rare to see the Black King use Cheat even once before around turn 5, opting to play cards instead.
Please help resolve this, I’ve been at it for 8 hours now. There is just nothing you can do to reliably beat it unlike before. It’s the only boss fight in the way of me getting the awesome cardback!
I was recently trying with no luck. I dont mind when things are difficult, but this is just ridiculous…i completed all other nodes, some easier, some with a lot more resets, and for all of them no matter how many resets, they always felt beatable. all except this one. This one seams impossible to me.
I’m trying to work on this now and having this issue, I am seeing reports from hearthpawn and reddit with commentors saying the same thing
blizz do you even read your forums.
Because a challenge meant to be hard has not been made easy just for people complaining about it
Last time I saw someone claiming that level was absolutely impossible it only took me 3 tries to get it done
I watched it and saw that the black king wasted a coin? Never did that in my games always 2 pawns right in the start or cheats never does what it did in your case
For that specific example yes it did
But as I commented, this completely broke my usual strategy
Even though that move gave me an advantage, I also had the huge disadvantage of having a dead card in hand for 6 turns, wasting me gold and value
There were a lot of moments in that game were I could have made huge mistakes that could have cost me the game. I had a “good” start but that’s far from enough to take the win
I did not share it as “here’s how you’re supposed to win” but more as “here’s how you’re supposed to adapt”
The win I had before that one was a regular one
