Ok. I reached (again) 8k as a f2p in battlegrounds

… and this meta sucks. Trinkets are/were a MISTAKE. It was a horrible mess of RNG and tempo rush, glad its over soon. I HOPE they throw away this concept and never bring it back again. Having a weak hero and garbage trinkets that were not even helpful to your current board was frustrating as hell to play.

Sad thing with new patch - F2P gonna get rekt. Again. Hero Re-Roll tokens will F up not only that patch but every new one even harder (hello Budddies).

Paying to reroll heroes to get anything semi decent… that’s not a problem at 6k if u don’t care about climbing but at ~8k+ you are facing sometimes literally guys at 15k+ rank, without decent hero, well, that’s a rank loss most of the time…

Why not one free hero reroll per game for EVERYONE? ONE. Give paying users 40+ free ones, i don’t care. Is that really so much to ask for? A fighting chance?

Not sure why you think the credentialism of your rank is an argument but OK.

But yeah the new p2w scheme sucks. Very greedy Executives since Activision.

Being at 8k means Im somewhere in the 1% best players of this game mode - I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m good at this game, not really, but i wanted to backup my thoughts with that statement.

Could be an anti-argument, you said you are the 1%. They want money from the 99%.

Well if you buy the battlepass you get 1 free reroll every game…Doesn’t help your case with nothing, but I wanted to add that cherry on top of the sh1t cake.

Par for the course…

It’s well known and accepted that Bliz sucks at matchmaking.

The actually don’t, the algorithm does exactly what is supposed to do to boost their sales

I think this is all a little overly dramatic. Right now, my paid NA account is at 7600 in Battlegrounds and my FTP EU account is at 7400. This barely counts as pay to win in my book. I’m currently doubtful that the free re-roll will be worth the money vs the current tavern pass for battlegrounds, although I’ll probably try it for my paid account. I think the difference between 4 heroes and effectively 5 will be pretty small. On the other hand, its only $5.

Only 5 dolars for a couple of reroll (not for the possibility to endless reroll)…The battle pass is 15$ and gives you 1 free reoll each game…Also it doesn’t matter the amount, even 1 cent would have made the game p2w…Giving someone an advantage over someone else just because he pays makes the game p2w. Even if it’s a small advantage like you put it (even though it’s not).

Why is it so hard to see that everything Blizzard does lately is made to push sales and get revenue, and that’s only because they fail to design a good game, so they need to push stupid things to keep it alive for as long as it takes, while competitors only offer cosmetics and just have it better than them. Is it that hard to accept the fact that Blizzard is declining faster than the speed of light ? Of course they will be here tomorrow and the day after also, but that doesn’t mean they will be better…

Yeah, not wrong but very overdramatic. Blizzard is and always has been in the business of making money. “Declining at the speed of light”? I’ll give you declining, but the biggest problem is that they seemingly run out of ideas for new stuff. For example, token are just recycled quests, let alone actual new game platforms.

Battlegounds is perfectly fun as FTP and there’s at least one FTP player in the EU top ten (Babofat). I’ve played a lot of so-called FTP games where its impossible to progress beyond some basic limit unless you pay up. Battlegrounds isn’t like that at all and I’m very doubtful that the hero reroll will make much of a difference.

That is what Blizzard is about. RNG. Not any actual thought or skill, it’s all RNG. These programmers they have are the worst in the world. I’ve said this over 10 years ago. I wish i could be this crap at my job and get a paycheck. Blizz, go ahead hire me. I can do the same job at half the salary!
Me at a meeting: “You know what we need!? Another way for a players choice not to matter because insert random RNG crap here is all that needs to occur”

Correction, “Blizzard has been in the business of making money since Activision”…

I have every game Blizzard has ever made, from even when they were Synapse % Silicone, even vikings on a floppy disk. They pioneered the best games and set into stones the genres that make other tick now.

Since they became a corporation all of that changed, they weren’t always the boob juice vampires that get down with the sickness at dubious parties and recolor helltides once a 3 month cycle company…So hence that’s why the correction is needed…

Just give it time if you think f2p is perfectly fine…They cannot make it p2w from start, they need to push slower increments so that the masses do not leave instantly and get accustomed to the model…The first part was to give smaller advantages to see how the players react to, it happened with the card that was usable if you prepurchase ( wasn’t a good card by any mean, but it was a test to see how players respond), they did the same with the brawl that gave the opportunity of pre-purchasers to use the cards from the new expansion, and now they are doing the same with BG’s. They are just testing responds and feedback to refine the formula and the dosage they administrate with every increment towards a more aggressive monetization.

Trinkets arent bad, besides how they balance them. The problem is all the non-balance changes they made to them to take away player choice (using your board to aim for specific trinkets) and instead diluting minion trinket pools by force feeding you a random minion pool that you don’t even have, and then diluting each minion pool with nonsensical trash trinkets. At launch you could easily aim for and get good trinket combos if you played smart. Yes, it was snowbally, but it was not nearly as RNG based. If trinkets were changed back to how they were, and just balance adjusted number wise, they would fit right in with quests/buddies/etc. The problem is Blizz doesn’t let those mechanics return and get weaved into normal play except for tiny edge cases. Hands down the most fun modes in the game before BGs were solo dungeon runs where you collected crazy powers and duked wit out with normally unbeatable opponents. They TRIED to turn that fun into something they could squeeze for cash, and so Duels was born. It was… sorta fun? But they nerfed it immediately into watered down constructed deck with just a choosable hero power that you had to PAY to get in most cases. Duels is dead because in this form, the mode was not very fun, and thus no one wanted to shell out $$$.

TLDR; Bring back every old BG game mode at once. Let skilled people stack those separate buffs into a winning board, and let the rest compete for second place I say! Down with RNG!

You’ve already achieved a very good rank. Just enjoy the game and don’t worry about rank so much. Maybe at this point it would be funner for you to do the opposite - try to pull off crazy high risk greedy plays and experiment with weird builds. That’s how I play every game and I still fluctuate between 6500 and 7500 every season.
