You can now favourite multiple card backs, which will be randomly selected. Right-click a card back, then click Toggle Favourite, rinse, repeat.

That’s unfortunate  odd change.

Why? It’s better this way. This way you can unfavourite the less desirable card backs.

However, there should be an option to favourite all cards at once, instead of one by one.

That’s why it’s unfortunate. But at the same time, the only card back I don’t like is hakkar.

Go to your Collection. Go into the Cardback section. Click on one of your deck. Unceck Favorites Only. Then it is all random for that deck.

Only these devs could make the process more counter intuitive by making it more cumbersome.

The UX forces you to choose a Favorite. When you are down to one Favorite, it greys-out the selection box so that it can’t be unchecked. This is bad UX. And agreed, swaping one feature for a different user-requested feature was not the right thing to do as it removed the simplicty of the total random cardback mode. Further, I miss the non-descript magical cardback that signifys random mode. And for those of us who were in random mode, the “prettiness” of the different cardbacks that generated each game is now back to the blah original cardback. So the look of the game for everybody has now leveled down a factor in boringness. Bummer.

We should earn a custom cardback just by having to go through this cumbersome process of having to Favorite all the cardbacks.

It should be that super cool really animated one they said they weren’t putting in the game, for all this nonsense.

I stand corrected. You CAN have a random mode by unchecking Favorites Only – but you have to do it AT THE CARD DECK LEVEL! GAH! Click on a card deck, then click on the card back – then you can set it to Random. Why can’t there be a global setting to set the card decks to Random?

This is the best solution.
Having to waste my time going through my entire collection is dumb.

As the other user mentioned you don’t have to go through all your cards and favorite them all all you have to do is go through pick a deck then go to the card back selector and make sure all your cards are unfavored it won’t let you unfavorite one of them so it automatically sets it to the original Hearthstone card back but you just click the little button that says favorites only now you can randomize all your card backs and it will never play the original Hearthstone card back which is kind of annoying because you have to exclude one card back to be able to get the random setting.

I don’t get what was wrong for the setting they had and I was hoping they would do the same thing where they had a random hero portrait for each class a random coin, and random strikes, boards, and battlegrounds heroes as well seems like a pretty simple thing to put in there but they just made it more convoluted if you want truly random you have to mark all your card backs as favorites for every single deck and then click favorites only, or you have to exclude one card back which isn’t truly random.

But doing it for all decks wouldnt bring random card back for opening packs back, right?
i dont get that change at all. This is minus one quality of life change and they now steal my time in forcing me to go through all my decks. That is bad design.
Bye the way I used random coin also but you cant even assign random coin to deck. So that feature is completly gone.

So you’re telling me you removed the random feature because now i can just select them all, one by one, and keep doing it whenever i get new ones… Big Blizzard momento.

You mean like the one we HAD? Yeah, same.

why would you do that ?

Hey gang, I reached out to Celestalon (dev) who was kind enough to give me directions to get Random Card Backs enabled again!

The secret is to uncheck ‘Favorites Only’ on the deck cardback selection. So it needs to be unchecked on each deck you are playing. Not optimal but I get why they designed it like that.

I hope this helps all my OCD friends who love ALL THE BACKS.

I mean, they could just code “random” and add that option like a normal company…but then they can’t hire competent devs or coders, so there’s that.
