I am 15:1 with him, losing only to other quest mage. Bursting everybody down, sometimes even before quest, usually finishing it by 5-6 mana.
Feels so strong, perfectly fits into current meta.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been playing most of the expansion. Was 8-3 before everyone started playing the Warlock deck. I have all the spells I need, but you cant play any of the frost spells if your opponent doesn’t play any minions. Then they play their conbo, and destroy you.
Mage is in serious need of an Ice Spell to replace Frost Bolt its the only element the class has that cant target face right now.
aggro and burn decks are always strong at the release of a new expansion because most new decks arent refined yet and dont have an answer to those types of decks
well, warlock, both handlock and quest, have so much healing now that burn may be facing a challenge imo.
Well there is ice barrier, which is not proactive, but still can be played anytime.
the warlocks 2h ago didnt have that, the latest versions have tons of healing as more players tries to bring aggro decks to counter
I think the minion version is better, but the quest is just really strong.
Well you have a lot of burn. Even without any other bonus damage you have 2 fireballs (18), 2x runed orb (into something? - 10), 2x blast - 16 damage.
Not considering infinite damage from ignite, which I never really get to use more than 2-3 times each.
NoHands latest version includes Spice Bread Baker which with some easy planning will heal you alot during the game
Yeah, the synergy between the Quest and having a deck full of spells is far smoother than I’d expected compared to any minion-centered variant. While my list was nowhere near optimized, I fojnd myself really struggling even trying to burn them down with my Fire/Tempo list before the could blow me up.
I think for now, my two Mage lists will be no-minion Quest (which actually feels a lot better since your wincon is generally burn damage, not RNGing some random nonsense on the board) and a Grand Finale Fire deck I’m working on.
Theres no way such a greedy deck will work with the lack of sustain Mage still has , Grand Finale is a realy cool card but also realy weak for an 8 mana cost even if you pull it off you will be for sure dead the very next turn.
It’s the same pattern as every expansion. They gave Mage a deck that is guaranteed to be nerfed and nothing else, as all of the other mage decks are mediocre trash compared to other classes.
This deck will get nerfed, trust.
When it does Mage will be garbage, yet again.
Team 5 could not care less. Why should they? They repeat the same behavior over and over, yet players keep throwing their money at Blizzard, and are blind to what even a child could see.
Wake up.
I doubt quest mage is getting nerfed. It’s not even the best burn/combo deck.
I’ll remember you said that.
Fine. Remember it. Be aggrieved some more.
Christ you’re tiresome.
Quest Warlock and Quest Hunter are both way bigger swing-ier combo decks. Quest Mage controls the board better probably, but that’s about it.
Famous last words, this past 2 years that Mage always got nerfed it was never the best at anything.
Mage needs to hurt peoples feelings thats it , Turtle Mage got destroyed and it was a joke deck with 40% win rate farming wins out of Druids at the time.
That deck was bloody obnoxious. Like 2 minute turns of watching people play solitaire. Like, quest mage could get nerfed, but it won’t be first.
Right here my whole point, it was a combo deck and a terrible one at that .
Now you can say you dislike that style of gameplan but that alone shouldnt warrant nerfs, makes no sense to me to nerf a 40% win rate deck because its abnoxious only(but thats just me).
I rather the devs nerf the tier 1 decks(no matter the class) that are getting over 60% win rates destrying everything than going after decks because they feel bad to losse against.
Again thats just me.
Only a small correction: such 60% meta tyrants are usually called tier 0. Though that also depends on the case, of course.
