I’d like to go on record and say that I was predicting a warrior deck centered on Lor’themar months ago!
This card has BAD tempo. At least Lor’themar has a 7/7 body, though he costs 2 more.
This card is going to be hard to play unless Warrior can tutor spells, but it seems like this is how Blizzard wants to support Control/Taunt Warrior. Fleshshaper and Sunfury Stalwart are scary with this, even more with Lor’themar, even MORE with Last Stand.
Don’t see how this becomes more relevant than Tony Warrior, though. I’ve had plenty of experimental Taunt-Lorthemar Warrior games where Lorthemar is the last minion I draw and he does nothing. This can have the same problem.
Remember a couple of years ago when people were unironically making conspiracy theories on here about Blizzard hating Mage. That’s me now but with Warrior.
Just flesh out one of the 50 billion packages we already have. It isn’t hard.
This needs to have absolutely busted support to be any good at all, and I just don’t see it.
Yeah, but this card has to be used before Lor’themar or it just undoes his effect.
It’s a super awkward card because it doesn’t buff your hand, you can’t exactly tutor it to make sure your deck can get the effect, and you have to be running minions with statlines far under cost in order for it to do anything (at least those usually have good effects).
It’s an interesting card, but it’s pretty difficult to build a deck that would actually want to play this that you’d actually want to use.
Jokes aside, it feels like a lot of cards with similar effects have been printed with at least a decent body attached to them to partially offset the huge tempo loss. As other said, without some targeted draw and some amazing mana cheat (or straight up playing it from deck), this card seems bad…
So it’s basically druid’s Embiggen, but without the “they cost 1 more”
Though druids have ramp and warriors don’t. And embiggen is 0 mana and could run 2 copies
For a close mana equivalent, it’d be… pally invigorating sermon? Though that one hits hand and field as well, but at a much smaller boost (+1 only)
However, those other two cards got used because the rest of the class/deck worked with them. And things obviously don’t look good atm for what warrior can do to support this card.
Unfortunately it is extremely slow and your deck would be pretty reliant on drawing this card. But if you do… a 12/17 Remornia for 7 mana? A 9/13 Decimator Olgra to clear the board? They have the minions to go face. It is faster than Lorthemar and costs less, even if it doesnt have a minion to go with it. If Warrior even gets the tools to survive to play this, this is scary.
With it adding stats like that, anything that isn’t a sizeable tempo loss to play would be blatantly overpowered and an auto include in every warrior deck for 2 years because there would be no downside for a huge advantage.
Warrior definitely has the minions to work with this (Fleshshaper, Sunfury Stalwart, Remornia, Trenchstalker, Olgra, and others) but we reslly need to see Warrior’s other new cards and the core set because they are losing some of the best control cards they’ve ever had.
Control Warrior actually dumpsters Aggro Unholy and Frost, and to a lesser extent Undead Priest, but that is because of cards like Rancor and Shield Shatter.
And the fact that Blood DK and Control/Svalna Priest exist already sorts spells the death of a deck based on BRnR. You MIGHT be sble to run Blood out of removal, though, but how does a deck with that many slow minions beat Miracle Rogue or aggro?
