New Priest Legendary Questline: Seek Guidance

Tickatus probably wont be played anymore. And if yes does not matter, it can burn your quest activators but u are priest u can generate them and pull shard from empty deck.

Real question is, if deck will be able to survive aggro and burst decks compared to standard control priest, but i think in right hands it will be able.

Priest was doing really well at high legend pre-nerf. I have a feeling it can still be good against aggro. The problem is that not playing the quest is probably going to be better than actually playing it since you open up turn 1 plays and arenā€™t putting ā€œless than uberā€ cards in the deck in order to hit the curve.

Iā€™m really curious to see the quest once we have 6 full expansions and two mini-sets to play with. And maybe the next rotation brings better options for the higher mana slots.

Made some changes based on feedback

The key restriction of the quest is able to play cards on curve, thus minions are generally favored over reactive spells which may not have a target. Thus the minion heavy build.

Notable cards:
Panderen Importer: card generation
Rustrot Viper: tradable if not needed, lifesaving against doom hammer (which we will be seeing a lot of)
Big Game Hunter: Everyone has a 7/7
Spice Bread Baker: Healing

Mutanus was considered but chances of hitting opponentā€™s quest reward is very slim, especially since you really just want to play a 7 drop on 7, preferably with Taunt that potentially can give you an 8 drop.

Circus Amalgam is not really need as you donā€™t need that much value from Nā€™zoth. With the amount of taunts played during the game, you probably will be fine for the next 2 turns. Instead I have added Spice Bread Baker to cover the lack of healing, considering how, in this expansion, a number of classes (Shaman, Hunter, Mage) can do a ton of direct damage.

The baker feels too low tempo to play on curve. What about Circus Medic? Same cost, better stats, similar heal when youā€™re curving out, and can be used as reach or board control later in the game.

Thereā€™s also Southsea Scoundrel. Even better stats, great with Nā€™zoth, and could help fill in your curve by borrowing a missing piece from your opponent.

The more I think about it the more I really like the scoundrel.

Absolutely agree. I consider these cards to be cheat cards. You can stave off all attacks and actually have to use strategy to play but as soon as they draw the ā€œI Winā€ card, itā€™s game over. Itā€™s like bringing a knife to a gunfight. I guess itā€™s a way for people who chronically lose to feel theyā€™ve won and keep playing, so itā€™s a win for them, a win for Blizzard, and a pain in the can for everyone else who wants to play a fair game.

If you could actually ā€œstave off all attacks until you winā€ then Quest Priest would be doing vastly better than it is. Itā€™s currently the 4th worst deck until you hit Legend. Itā€™s second to last after that.

I have to revise these statements. Iā€™ve move away from Nā€™zoth entirely and am having much better results now. Baker is definitely too slow and does nothing except stave off death for one turn. Other decks are so synergistic these days that Scoundrel will always give them a card they can use much, much better than you can.

Iā€™m using a version of Kiblerā€™s quest priest. Crossroads Watchpost, The Nameless One, and Xyrella make great 4-drops. Iā€™ve had warlocks and mages concede after trying in vain to kill posts that keep growing out of range of their damaging spells.

im guessing you are describing quest priest being the one carrying a knife vs ā€¦most decks in this meta

My deck is a discover heavy deck, very similar to yours though.

I just donā€™t understand how you use Xyrella on turn 4?

This deck is too slow to be considering combos. (Heal then Xyrella)

You can Desperate Prayer and throw her down, possibly.

Sometimes she ends up being a 4-drop out of desperation. Usually sheā€™s saved for a later turn as a clear to stay alize. But yeah, sheā€™s really hard to use. Even on later turns you have to have discovered some good healing in order to get a real benefit from her. Desperate Prayer, Renew, and Flash Heal are the only really valid options since Holy Nova isnā€™t enough damage on turn 8.

Iā€™ve been contemplating dropping her in favor of a few possibilities:

  • Cheesemonger for value
  • Circus Amalgam for survival
  • Fishy Flyer for reactivity

Iā€™m always open to suggestions.

Oooh, I really love Cheesemonger. Maybe, partly, because I love cheese so much.

Ill post my deck when I can.

I complete the quest a lot, problem is, getting that 10 cost spell out and played.

Best way is High Abbott Alura and a cheap spell. I have played the 5 cost ā€œquest heroā€ and Alura on turn 10 and coined the spell out, or raise dead.

Often times I get it on 11 with a 1 cost.

My 4 cost spells are

Crossroads Watchpost (2)
Southsea Scoundrel (1)
The Nameless One

I abandon the quest against mage and lock if I can get a Watchpost + Robes on turn 7.

Itā€™s SOOO hard to keep a robe alive by itself.

Ill use robe on 3 if Im against a spell light deck.

GTG let me know yer thoughts.

Even against mage?

Doesnā€™t it die pretty easily against any minion deck?

How are you liking the scoundrel? Iā€™ve found it to be clunky and often more trouble than itā€™s worth.

Mage can AOE and other stuff, I prefer to back it up with something.

A + 1 spell dmg minion and the tradable 3 dmg card can kill it. But, of course, youā€™re right, itā€™s not that easy.

I use robe on 3 with minion classes because Im just trying to get the quest completed. I know its dead on arrival.

I donā€™t like scoundrel. But I wanted a 4 cost discover card. Cheesemonger would make me overfill my hand and possibly burn cards I need.
