New Priest Epic: Shadow Word: Devour

Looks super strong/fun in Miracle Priest.

Imagining vs Face Hunter early game with 4 enemy minions on board:

1 Mana
Give a minion + 4 Health. Deal 4 damage.

^ 1 mana swing 8 Stat Points. :exploding_head:

Sethekk Veilweaver becomes a 2/7.
Nazmani Bloodweaver becomes a 2/9.

Would be funny if it works with Spell Damage. You could potentially discover a Bloodmage Thalnos and clear Glowfly Swarm for a 1/15 Thalnos, then buff it up.

6/5 Star Power, think it gets nerfed someday.

All 3 cards revealed today so far, seem extremely good.

This one is amazing in both control and aggro shadow imo as an example.

Thinking this with Samuro on control already gives me nightmares…

sorry how will this card be good on samuro? it does not give him an attack buff or lifesteal.

I am thinking crazed alchemist

looks like inner fire priest is back on the menu!

Ah, misread, though it was stealing both health and attack

After priests pull off a few crutch board clears from wandmaker (which they got from raise dead), it’ll be nerfed to 2 mana.

it does not work like that in 2 mana there is already a better card which is condemn, it will be nerfed to 3 mana,
nerfing in priest means killing the card.

Cards not even out people already on a brain storm on how to nerf it…
Unreal Priest cant get a break.

people are hyped for this in standard ?

i could put it on my meme deck in wild.

tbh this card is so weak in standard, i dont think any priest control player will put it in their deck and it requires a minion in the board, if you want a board clear condemn is better , in 1 mana there are better cards to run holy smite, renew, call of the grave or draconic.

This is the kind of card you like to get from random generation. It’s cheap and can always be usefull.

yeah right, lol.

This is the key. If it does, this could have potential to be very strong. If not, it looks mediocre at best.

Feels like people are overrating this a little bit. 1 mana 1 damage AoE hasn’t been that great in the past; and this has to be combo’d with a minion.
It’s obviously great in combination with Sethekk, but the minion density in miracle priest is pretty low. This is a dead card if you don’t have a minion, which can be fairly often in that deck.
This is definitely powerful, but maybe too situational to be an overall great card.

Edit: I noticed that it can target enemy minions. That definitely makes it better. I’d rather fight a 1/5 instead of 5 1/1’s.

So it’s a 1 mana arcane explosion that gives 1 health to a minion of your choice for every minion hit?

Seems pretty good in a vacuum.

No, it’s not arcane explosion. It’s whirlwind. The spell hits your own minions as well.

If nothing else this is yet another way to kill all those elwynn boars you’ll be summoning. Pig priest intensifies!

Waaaaaaaaaaait a minute. I thought i was being sarcastic with the pig priest comment but could miracle pig priest actually become a thing? I just realized how this ACTUALLY fits into miracle priest, and now we have Drek’thar to tutor the minions!.

Minions
Elwynn Boar
Sethekk veilweiver
Nazmani Bloodweaver
Drek’Thar

Spells
Raise Dead
Shadow Word devour
renew (Now 1 mana)
Insight
Power Word Feast
Gift of Luminance
Palm Reading
Amulet of Undying
Rally
Psyche Spit
Power Word: Fortitude

That’s just a basic brainstorming on the cards that work in the deck. Holy smite and other similar inclusions obviously fit too. And we even have insight and thrive in shadows for more tutor. There’s more to this shell than I realized.

Yeah, 1 mana whirlwind, but it seems like it should combo well with a taunt. Just say, if you played that one 3 mana 4/3 or 4/7 taunt, against a board with like 5 minions, you could foreseeably get like a 4/8 - 4/12 taunt on the board.

Maybe not as good as infinite greyboughs, but… the card alone seems pretty good at least. And it’s also shadow tag, so it can be used with the new hero power if less aggroy shadow priests in standard or wild ever want to rise up and gives them a minor aoe. it also combos with Thalnos for a really cheap 3 mana aoe combo that could leave you with a really buffed minion… orr… Just a leftover 1/11 thalnos nobody is probably wasting their time removing.

Will it be good, enough for a deck that uses it to see play? Who knows.
But it can be a good card at least, and i know priest is pretty starved for any damage whatsoever a lot of times. 4 mana to deal 2 damage is often the best the class can do, and surviving early so you can actually play the good clears, (even if it’s thalnos to get 2 damage for 3 mana ) might be iffy but enough to stick it on board, buff a thalnos the opponent doesn’t really want to trade with (or a taunt / board minion), and just use sp the rest of game.

I like this card, if only because Priest is usually horrible at finishing off 1 health minions. Having to have your own minion to fire it off is a bit of a downer but it’s only 1 mana. It also bypasses Divine Shield.

Well, in theory. Thing is, priest rarely has an board, right? Is S. Priest still a thing?

It’s a pretty nice card. You wouldn’t put it in your deck, but you would often enough be happy to discover it or to get it off of wandmaker.
