old player here. if i start another account, does that count as a new player, able to use the new loaner decks. thanks.

Yes, of course. Game doesnt throw you in emptyhanded as it was 10 years ago. You have to go through a “tutorial” kind of sequence, complete some missions with the core decks against bots, progress, get the rewards (some current expansions packs,gold and some of the this year’s cards) and then you will get the loan deck. Might sound like a lot but its still the same p2w game, if you want some variety.

thanks. but just through luck i saw a Zeddy vid where he mentioned getting the new loaners using a second account. did the apprentice track, and am careful to not complete the last bit until i’m ready to start the loaner countdown.
