I just started playing hearthstone about a month ago. I really like the game, but I just get destroyed by people with decks of cards that I haven’t ever seen, and are way better than any cards I have currently. Is there anything I can do, or am I just forced to buy a ton of decks of cards to win a game legitimately?
Which class do you run or would like to run as?
Also Demon Hunter, again, you get almost all of their cards and you make some decks are can easily compete right now.
your options
- You buy card packs.
- You focus on just one class, contented with less, ignore ranked. Hearthstone is designed to make you spend money so most people fail at this strategy.
- You don’t play the game.
I’m actually still trying to get all the classes to lvl 10. It is just going really slow.
Aaaaah, you might wanna play PvE Adventures then if you find it too troublesome to level in the current environment.
(And honestly, It’s more fun if the goal is to level that way and collect the hidden quests.)
You can get all classes to 10 by playing against the Innkeeper. Sure, it’s not the most exciting gameplay, but it’s better than getting facerolled by real decks in Play Mode.
Play till you get the free decks and just play daily. Focus on Tavern Brawls, complete quests, play 5 ranked games just for the end of season chest and the cardback.
Thanks everyone. I’ll try the PVE until I can get the normal decks, then try to focus on building one class out.
Also, try and practice Arena and get atleast 5 wins each time.
In the long run, that’s the best way to be F2P as well as building up your collection for dust, cards, gold.
So, the good news is that we just had rotation in standard, so this is the best time to be getting into the game. The bad news is that it’ll probably still be a while before you can be truly competitive. My advice is to go ahead, play some with all the classes (others have suggested doing this in PvE which seems like a solid idea) and unlock all the basic cards. Use your gold to buy packs from each standard legal set until you open the guaranteed legendary in the first 10 packs. Take some time to watch other players, either streamers or any friends you make here or in game, and figure out what class you want to play the most. Do some research too, because if you want to win, but your preferred class isn’t doing well, you might have a tough time. Disenchant bad/unplayable cards, and build up to the deck you want. It won’t be easy or quick, but you can get there, even as a F2P player. Good luck! If you care at all, my handle is osumatthew#1155 if you or anyone else wants to add me.
Maaan you have aaaaaaa looooooong way ahead of you, unless u buy 40 of each pack which will help you a little bit.
Eh, you can make a competitve deck for very, very low if not zero dust with DH.
Now skillwise, yeah, takes a bit of practice but that comes after a few games with a deck
Yeah, but DH might be getting some more nerfs soon. Plus, the optimal versions of the decks usually have at least Kayn and Metamorphosis, if I’m not mistaken.
Not entirely,
there’s pretty cheap +55% tempo DH decks for… 580 dust.
But yeah, might wanna wait to craft anything until the nerfs hit again, althrough I don’t think they’re gonna hit the tempo deck in any hard capacity.
I don’t entirely disagree, but you can at least play the deck without them. Compared to some of the other metas in the past, a near-full deck with just 2 cards missing for completion (and I consider Kayn somewhat optional) is pretty darn good. If DH does get any nerfs, I don’t imagine it’ll kill the class either - they’d be a little hard pressed if their shiny tenth class was unplayable.
Anyways, yeah, Hearthstone can be a bit tough to get into, but there’s methods and ways. One of the most difficult things at the start however is starting with no knowledge of the cards, and only a vague idea as to what an optimal deck looks like. There are plenty of ‘budget’ decks, and once in awhile Streamers will try to make a legend push within a week on a new account with no money spent, but that’s because they know exactly what to build, how to build it fast, and aren’t trying to make a wide collection with the future in mind.
That being said, there’s stuff to do if you don’t have a wide collection. I started off in the Arena where I was at a level playing field with everyone (barring RNG), and mostly switched to constructed when I felt like playing something specific and my collection had grown.
Thanks everyone this has been very helpful
I put together some beginner decks so you can have an idea of getting classes up and running while you are building your collection.
The reality is decks with just Basic + Classic fall short in gameplay in 2020, but having the commons/rares from the latest expansions can go a long way.
Don’t forget to hit up the Tavern Brawl once a week and get at least one win. That one free classic pack is nice for a new player. Dalaran Heist, Saviors of Aldun, and Galakrond’s Awakening all give you some standard cards once you unlock them with money or gold. Galakrond’s Awakening is almost a must since it has exclusive cards to unlock.
Only if you play paladin.
Are new player still getting the free meta decks?? That’s the best way to get a good deck
