Thinking you don’t play the quest combined with Finley,
Finley seems okay since the upgraded hero power can’t really be abused like odd pally could with synergies because its random.
Easily the strongest of the four, will it see play we will see. I’m gonna experiement with it but my gut feeling is that there isnt enough good cards to make a competitive highlander deck but we will see. And the set isnt fully out yet either so we might get more synergy with it.
Hate it as a competitive card, but I think it’s kinda fun. I hope it’s not good because it reeks of everything I didn’t like about keleseth, and it has a super RNG element depending on which hero powers get offered.
People understandably like to see the pictures; all the better if they are in the opening post. If that is a common perspective, we have enough active TL3 posters that it might be best to leave the threads to you all.
Thank you for embedding the picture! As always, I appreciate it.
I myself thought my account would have achieved Trust Level 3 rather a while ago, judging by the criteria. Perhaps some of my posts were flagged?
They either have to have some cards coming that will support the Highlander style or thought it was ok to release before they got enough support to be useful. Just without the Savior’s expac. I wldnt want to build a deck with no dups as of right now lol.
I had it, then it was suddenly gone for some reason. No idea why, but oh well.
Aaanyway, this card is definitely strong. Some of the hero power upgrades can carry a deck even with a consistency drop from the restriction.
It is good that it doesn’t always start the game in hand, so there isn’t the hyper consistency that genn/baku had.
The best option (odd pally power) also is lacking the mass buff options that odd paladin had (level up/tarim), so while this is definitely good, it may not be standout, yet.
Oooo, a potential (classic) Reno Paladin, interesting!
Reno often enabled almost all classes back in the day, or at least made it possible, yet we rarely saw cards after that which supported anything but mage, warlock or priest Highlander.
Reno Paladin though. Doesn’t really mix with DK Uther, I’m not sure how you’d fiddle a Mechathun, Dragons tend to want duplicates, and it’s probably not ideal to make an Evens deck out of. This would probably end up being its own new Control Paladin archetype!
Uther works well.
Zola, Banker and Garrison Commander already constitute the basis for the OTK.
What Paladin needs, is really a singular, more potent, or just less conditional, boardclear.
Value generation is also lacking.
I honestly do not know what to do with this deck idea.
Certainly the strongest and most intriguing effect of the four heroes, alright! Along with Dinotamer Brann this card just may see viable play because, as we all know, the upgraded hero powers of many classes are very strong. Plus I personally never liked Paladins’ default hero power much anyway.
Now the question is; what hero powers you would want from this?
Mage (Deal 2 damage): Pinging for two damage is always good. Warrior (Gain 4 armor): Provides more survivability. Warlock (Draw a card): Paladins lack simple raw card draw currently after Divine Favor was HoF:ed so this looks very tempting. And you wouldn’t lose health while doing so either. Paladin’s own (Summon two Silver Hand Recruits): It may have been powerful in Odd Paladin last year but in current meta I don’t think so. But then again the hero power was so good that even after Level Up! nerfs when we thought the archetype would either die or at least be weakened it did practically nothing, so maybe…? Druid: 2 attack and 2 armor? Not bad. Hunter (Deal 3 damage to enemy hero): Kinda meh. Could potentially work in aggro-heavy deck, if that’s how your deck is built. Priest (Heal four health): Helps you stall the game at best, I’m afraid. Shaman (Select and summon a basic totem): Well, at least it’s better than Paladin’s default hero power. Rogue (Equip a 2/2 dagger): This should be very good! Especially if you built your deck to be more aggro oriented.
What I really like about this card is that it’s flexible and allows you to better change your approach and game plan against certain classes/archetypes. If you want to beat your opponent fast enough, pick something like Rogue’s, Hunter’s or Druid’s hero power. If you think you need more sustain, pick Warrior’s, Druid’s or even Priest’s if you think that’s going to help you. Or just pick Warlock’s because who doesn’t want to draw a card for two mana?
