Explosive Trap, eat your freaking heart out.

Me likey.

Note that this DOES allow the hit to take place first. It isn’t directly superior to Explosive Trap.

Still, this is totes going in my Big Dragon Mage.

It also doesn’t hit the opponent’s face.

They didn’t want an easy board-control tool for Burn Mage, evidently.

Absolutely nuts, and at common no less. I can already picture the threads complaining about Mage decks that dominate with four copies of this in Arena.

Cyclone Mages will undoubtedly run this to shore up most of their weakest matchups and tilt some even ones in their favor. Might be a bit preemptive to say this but I reckon that the few points gained on aggressive decks would more than balance out whatever CC Mage loses versus Control Shaman and Plague of Murlocs.

Which is fine, they already have Flakmage. This could easily be run in Burn Mage if the meta gets highly aggressive.

Yeesh, that seems quite strong at that spot in the curve. It’s interesting to note that these secret synergies seem very defensive oriented when you compare with the previous iteration of Secret Mage that was more of a tempo deck. This thing requires your hero to be attacked so you don’t want to play it on a board where you have minions the other guy can take value trades on, which probably means you’re not a tempo deck that’s trying to beat people up with Secretkeepers and Kirin Tor Mages.

If nothing else, it’s a good tool in a Reno Mage deck for more aoe potential.

That’s crazy good! WOW!

Wild Secret mage just got a major boost.

Aggro is going to have a major problem dealing with mage, which was the downside of playing Conjurer mage.

As an aggro player I’d just like to say how much I don’t like this card. That is all.

This is probably the best early game AoE that mage has ever had.

And it has secret synergies…

There’s nothing not to like about this (if you are a mage).

Flakmage into this would be nasty against Murlocs.

Flakmage is just nasty in the first place.

He’s a flamestrike if you pair him with 2 secrets.

But yes, that is a lot of board hate.

This is getting a bit scary.

Mage will almost certainly not have to worry about aggro any more which leaves them completely open for a hardcore mid range and late game deck.

And not only can they negate aggro, they can put board presence up at the same time. Yikes!

Yeah, my Big Spell Dragon Mage idea might be coming to fruition…

I’m already having fun with it in Wild and it wouldn’t take much to convert it to Standard lol.

Hey, I’m not complaining. I’m all for smashing aggro down a bit in wild and standard. There are too many aggro decks just running amok.

Which is fine except…

Mage has a very strong gameplan against slower decks. Like, very strong.

If you remove the inherent weakness of a deck that can already heartily abuse a slow gameplan…it wont matter that “aggro decks used to be everywhere” because no decks will.

So…
Giving Mage, whose main weakness is aggro, a very potent tool against it, is suddenly good?

Cyclone Quest Mage is a scourge already.

The high frequency of aggro decks in Wild is a result of the popularity of decks such as Cyclown Mage and Big Priest.

When I look at cards the mage has available right now + cards being printed in this new expansion…and then look at paladin for example…I would like to sign for a job at Blizzard. I do not know a crap about card development, balance or anything like that. So I guess I am the right person for a director spot atleast.

Great card, should help a lot against Murloc decks! Also to the people who worries about conjures mage being to rampant, if that happens shaman and bomb warrior will rise(even more) to cull their numbers. Mage still have no way to deal with control warrior and the new shaman spell will still destroy any conjurer deck with ease.

I really hope this is a joke, Dragon Mage destroys control warrior…
