Absolutely nuts, and at common no less. I can already picture the threads complaining about Mage decks that dominate with four copies of this in Arena.
Cyclone Mages will undoubtedly run this to shore up most of their weakest matchups and tilt some even ones in their favor. Might be a bit preemptive to say this but I reckon that the few points gained on aggressive decks would more than balance out whatever CC Mage loses versus Control Shaman and Plague of Murlocs.
Yeesh, that seems quite strong at that spot in the curve. It’s interesting to note that these secret synergies seem very defensive oriented when you compare with the previous iteration of Secret Mage that was more of a tempo deck. This thing requires your hero to be attacked so you don’t want to play it on a board where you have minions the other guy can take value trades on, which probably means you’re not a tempo deck that’s trying to beat people up with Secretkeepers and Kirin Tor Mages.
If nothing else, it’s a good tool in a Reno Mage deck for more aoe potential.
Mage has a very strong gameplan against slower decks. Like, very strong.
If you remove the inherent weakness of a deck that can already heartily abuse a slow gameplan…it wont matter that “aggro decks used to be everywhere” because no decks will.
When I look at cards the mage has available right now + cards being printed in this new expansion…and then look at paladin for example…I would like to sign for a job at Blizzard. I do not know a crap about card development, balance or anything like that. So I guess I am the right person for a director spot atleast.
Great card, should help a lot against Murloc decks! Also to the people who worries about conjures mage being to rampant, if that happens shaman and bomb warrior will rise(even more) to cull their numbers. Mage still have no way to deal with control warrior and the new shaman spell will still destroy any conjurer deck with ease.
