So, baseline Altimor is a 7 mana 5/4 that basically casts a reskinned Animal Companion.
And fully Infused the Battlecry becomes a reskinned Call of the Wild.

while the initial reaction may be âwoah! 8 infused seems way too much!â we need to keep in mind cards like Hydra which (most of the time) is 7 dead minions by itself just to clear it.
Add in bears which are 3 for 1 and etc, and suddenly it doesnât look that expensive.
I mean, at itâs most basic, itâs pretty blah to get a vanilla 5/4 with one companion. I feel like if you Infuse this once, itâs a pretty strong card. If you max it out, the card is very powerful. The fact that you really only need the first upgrade to make this strong makes me think this sees play.
Current BBHunter has the Naga package, including 2 x Lionfish, so Infusing should be easy. But is it worth keeping him in the mulligan? Prolly not
Wow, this is so⊠basic.
They could at least change the stats a little bit; itâs a âcall of the wildâ that has a chance of summoning the same companion.
Still playable, but not very interesting for me
But look at how edgy those companions are! 12 year-old me would have been very impressed.
The fully Infused version of Altimor (viewable in the card gallery) says âSummon all 3 Gargon Companionsâ, so it should be one of each.
If thatâs the case, itâs worse than call of the wild
Reverse powercreep?
We all know that Margore will be always the first summoned so its 7 mana 5/4 and 4/2 charge that improves with infuse. Wonât see play because Hunter games end before turn 7.
5/4 more stats for 1 less mana when fully infused.
i wouldnât call that worse by any stretch.
Even with just 1 infuse itâs still more stats and still cheaper than call of the wild. And 1 infuse by t7 doesnât seem that bad to me.
but itâs not a good top deck and you can only run a copy of it.
If I could choose, I would probably play 8 mana call of the wild rather than this (without knowing the full expansion).
Letâs say I expected more from a legendary in 2022
Itâs a very specific case: you need to have it in hand and infuse it so you can play it on curve.
On average, I think it will perform worse than the average call of the wild
time will tell obviously, but the 1st stage i think itâs very easily achievable (and only that is needed to already be an improvement over call).
So, (imo) it will be an improvement over call for the vast majority of times, and only really bad when itâs a top deck.
This gives me Wing Commander Ichman vibes, looks complete garbage because its an expensive card in hunter but, with a couple synergistic token cards, surprise a lot of people.
It seems this expansion is trying to slow things down and push for longer games.
Renathal give people 40 health and 40 card decks
The new big cards donât seem to be as crazy as previous expansions so they canât end games that fast.
Infuse seems to be a rather slow keyword.
But there are stuff existing now that could punish greedy decks. We havenât seen all the new cards, but you might not need that many new cards to push some aggro deck to be the next meta breaker, punishing 40 card decks or whatever other greedy thing people want to play with.
i think 40card decks will have to fear combo more rather than aggro.
weâve already seen Q hunter resurfacing, now the new cards so far show potential for Q mage as well. The 10 extra health is irrelevant before OTK/Infinite damage.
I like this guy. Companions can be immensely useful. He might have a place in Beast Hunter, obviously. I believe the companions should be stronger, however. This is a legendary minion. I realize that isnât always to justify power in a card â a lot of legendary cards suck. I do believe, however, where weâre at now in terms of the strength of cards, this guy is pretty useless.
I like it⊠but it probably sucks, honestly.
Sorry but this is as queer as a 3 dollar bill or a tomato tree. Gargon companion? Itâs the same bloody thing as animal companion. Give me a break.
Such an uninspired legendary.
That card is 100% trash. I cannot believe that made the cut in this day and age of HS design. Five years ago it would have been marginal at best. Not to mention it completes destroys the revive pool for the beast hunter decks.
With the terrible stats the legendary itself has on it, i have to imagine that he had some ongoing effect on himself that effects beasts that was removed.
I am not so sure.
Worst case scenario, you topdeck him in lategame and play with no infuse at all, then you get a 5/4, 4 manas stats + a premium 3 manas stats, it is not a good play but not horribly bad.
Probably the most common case, you play him with infuse 4, you get 10 manas stats for 7 manas, in days of colossals this donât sound that great but is far from bad.
And full infuse is game winning, CotW for 8 manas break the game before and needed to be nerfed, for 7 manas and an additional 5/4? Insane 7 manas play.
Hunter is running 40 cards deck now, it is not hard find a slot for this guy.
