astral phaser seems good. dormant or damage is pretty useful i’d think. exarch othaar seems strong. distress signal is ok with the other cards in the set. cosmic phenomenon good for board flooding decks. uluu the everdrifter could be very fun depending on what it discovers, just wish blizzard would make cards like this have a setting as soon as they’re drawn and not force them to be held a turn to be useful. final frontier is nothing special in wild, i guess in standard it’s something vaguely interesting but doesn’t really seem special. star grazer seems power creeepy and strong as hell I guess.
How exactly does Uluu work?
Is it the minion or the hero who gains the effect of the choices?
Or do all them trigger once Uluu enters the field? But I see no battlecry on Uluu.
I think I would enjoy playing this archetype, but I think it’s extremely weak xDD
We’ll see
it gets 2 differenct choices each turn
the pool excludes all the transform ones
and it can give you choices from different cards
i love phaser already we needed it
Uluu is confusing.
What’s the pool of Choose One cards? Does it pull from Wild or just Standard? Why doesn’t it say in its text…
My prediction is Astral Phaser becomes auto-include, Star-Grazer is that card everyone “thinks” will be awesome but turns out being mid, and Uluu’s going to inspire people to try and bring “choose” decks back to relevancy though I don’t know how successful they’ll be.
i would assume it pulls from Standard when you’re playing Standard and Wild when you’re playing Wild, like most discover cards do.
I think the strongest candidates here are the two Epics.
They are both very strong, seemingly.
The 5-cost one is decent in vacuum but I don’t see myself slotting it over Crystal Cluster. The 7-cost, is actually an 8 cost and it would have to depend on its pool.
Yes, but do these choices come into the game right away or are they stored into a battlecry which is triggered if Uluu enters the field?
I’m a bit confused what they mean by “gain”.
You can see its pool in the Card Library and it doesn’t disappoint, except some Giant cards.
The fact that it’s Discover makes it a lot better. You should be able to pull something good every time.
My interpretation is that it comes into your hand with no choices attached. Then next turn, it randomly picks 2 different “choose 1” choices from 2 different cards. Then the next turn, those go away, and it picks an entirely new set of 2.
So like, on one turn, you’d get Wrath’s “deal 3 damage to minion” and Chia’s “gain 1 spell damage” and then the next turn, you’d get “draw a beast” and “reduce your spell costs by 1.” But those would REPLACE the wrath+Chia from the prior turn, not add to them.
That’s fair. Discover is very powerful.
Yes, that would make sense.
You do have to play the Uluu to get the choices though. But yes, it chooses two different ones each turn, and erases the last turn’s when it chooses new ones. All choose ones on minions are basically Battlecries except they don’t activate battlecry synergy also.
To be fair, it’s basically just a Free From Amber, but I believe it being in Druid makes a big difference, since it will probably come out quicker. Also, you get the potential Battlecry, something that you wouldn’t get from Free From Amber.
Though, I expect you’ll almost always be presented with only Neutrals when you play it. There are only 2 Druid 10-cost minions (from the past).
In-case you get lucky to get a Druid card, you’ll either get Kun or Tyrantus which are both great.
For Neutrals, there is the potential Raid Boss Onyxia, Neptulon and also the Yogg cards. There are a lot of probable good Discovers.
Maybe you’re right… Raid Boss Onyxia, Neptulon and Kun and Tyrantus all sound pretty good to have an extra of even in wild. Too bad you can’t get Eonar, lol, degen thinking.
The 1drop might be the best card there. It draws and it often gives its mana back. It looks simple and small but that’s gigantic value per mana.
The current arcane spells in druid are sleep under the stars, sparkling phial and bottomless toy chest. Not sure theres really any great synergy there with starlight reactor… I guess when you hit 20 mana on druid though a 10 mana combo of starlight/final frontier is a way to spend mana, although I imagine the 2nd cast gives you a random card rather than one discovered.
Distress signal is a weird card… its essentially 2 mana summon 2 random 2 cost minions… but they dont want it played until turn 4. I guess its essentially free if you play it with starlight reactor.
Pretty weird set. To me it seems you’d slot most of these more in a token aggro deck (especially distress signal…cosmic seems designed for it but way too expensive) over some slower deck. Honestly drawing a blank on any decent deck building ideas. Arkonite revelations mabye makes it into an owl OTK deck along with astral. Just doesnt seem to be enough there to create some starship/arcane druid deck
That might answer a lot of questions, because if they have obscene amounts of mana the cards can be expensive; if you’ve played the ramp deck you might have noticed after ~16 mana you start not even needing more; the hand just starts emptying and you’re starved of cards instead of mana.
But at the same time you can’t support a class just on its ramp variant.
