2 times today had a Druid throw down ceaseless expanse on turn 6 – please tell me how that is even possible?

Derkan’s explanation is one possibility, but it is not particularly easy for a Druid to play Loh on Turn 5. Double trail mix is not that common.
However, it is easy for a Druid to play Sky Mother Aviana anywhere from Turn 3 to Turn 5. If Ceaseless is 1 of the 10 legendaries shuffled into the opponent’s deck by her effect, then it will cost 0 when it is drawn. I had it happen once today on about Turn 6 or 7.
It is not a bug or exploit. It is an under-costed Sky Mother Aviana. She should cost at least 1 or 2 more mana.

Your opponent played some combination of cards that reduced the cost of Expanse.
Surely you were paying attention to the cards they played? There’s your answer.
