Why? The only reason the old versions of these cards were deemed to be acceptable to the game as it is now at all is because they were rotating to wild. So why, why, why, did Blizzard decide to screw up standard for at least a week prior to the new expansion rotation?
This happens every year.
They put the patch in for the next expansion about a week ahead to make sure things run smoothly. For the rotation set, this also includes any card changes they would be making for the new year.
There’s only a week left in this standard year, so enjoy the wackyness of everything being unnerfed. The long term balance of these cards aren’t really a concern anymore.
I think the point is they don’t enjoy everything un-nerfed.
It’s dumb and they shouldn’t do it, imo.
Renathal is a menace and shouldn’t exist.
There’s no reason to play the game right now.
I understand it as a combination of laziness and saving costs. It appears to be part of the new expansion having [sort-of] already released [“technologically”], but it’s not exactly fully released so some of them stay there for a few days being more OP than they should be (PS also Wild is a broken format nobody cares (between the Devs (whatever they imply)) to balance).
This makes sense.
But also, my theory is they do it to reward collectors/wild players/paying customers, who don’t disenchant cards for full value after they get nerfed
Gotta give your loyal customers an edge, even if it only lasts 1 week
Or they just do it one week earlier to shift the whole meta one last time before the rotation, some players like it
“Excitement-inducing” could be a valid reason because Blizzard is known to imbalance things to make them exciting (I was used to it in WoW for years) (kinda stupid if you ask me),
but I doubt it’s that because it’s extremely limited in days to have any impact. It’s most probably saving costs/time at keeping it stable until new cards are unlocked.
just like… don’t play ranked for a week, it’s not that hard.
10 extra cards ruin the consistency of your strategy, 10 extra life is good enough pay of, 5 extra life? Not that much.
You see an aggro deck with a good starting hand like sludge or token druid? We need more cards like Renathal, thinking about it 40 starting health is in the weak side than OP side when you consider how insanely fast some decks become over the years.
Unless im mistaken these cards will stay unnerfed when they go to wild and its sort of like a last hurra for these cards to shake up the meta without introducing nerfs.
I think its a good idea it shakes the meta up and thats always good
I’m still VERY disappointed that Doc hasn’t had the nerf reverted. Brann is acceptable Highlander power level but Doc is so much more powerful? Really??
It’s reckless, because Standard was already imbalanced with 2 or 3 archetypes oppressing all others.
I don’t even have the cards of the netdecks before this mess so for me Constructed is useless.
Im ok with it it shakes the meta especially naga mage wil really shake up the meta and it allows for decks like frost dk to played one last time i honestly dont mind it its just for a week.
It’s generally a very hostile environment, to any account who is either not very old or very p2w (if it’s very new); the archetypes that “work” after Diamond ~10 are only 2 or 3 and everything else is oppressed; the netdecks have guaranteed kill conditions (they always happen) unless another netdeck goes there first.
To put it simply: the game drives away anyone who would try it for the first time right now: it’s a mess that only seems to work for people who have all the cards and can netdeck constantly and most others play with bots.
Everything that got reverted is about to rotate.
Doc will probably get reverted next year before he rotates out.
I really hope Brann gets gutted.
I think new players and f2p players can compete the new player track gives you 3 free decks as well as dust and cacthup packs which can give you up to 50 cards thats massive so i dont agree with this.
Its all about finding the right deck to counter the meta in my opinion that your currently facing.
Isn’t that card still in standard another year?
Well yeah i know that. The problem is that they are expressly telling us Doc is in fact MORE powerful than Brann by keeping the nerf in place. That’s just factually false and we all know it. Not to mention the diamond version was put behind a $100 pay wall and was then nerfed.
Yes and it’s still nerfed for ZERO reason.
The issue was more that Doc was winning games singlehandedly faster than Brann does.
He definitely isn’t stronger than Brann.
I still don’t know what the devs were smoking when they thought doubling battlecries forever was a good idea.
It was a knee jerk reaction to a problem that didn’t exist. There were other decks emerging when that nerf came. It’s not like that single nerf made Shaman disappear from the ladder overnight. More powerful decks emerged but those were allowed to flourish.
It’s just silly to leave it like that but Brann untouched. Maybe Brann gets nerfed in the future but with it only being in for a year i highly doubt they touch it like they did the previous year with neutral Brann.
