Ok after a few days of playing the mode i can say that.
I didnt get any of the pre orders so no diamond Sylvanas ,Diablo or Lich King and just from playing this is my progress.
I think you’d be the only one, that much maintenance would drive most people off, that’s essentially why I quit warframe even though I think it was one of the better games ever released, I got so sick of farming new prime frames every like month.
Im betting you did that farm for many months until you reached the breaking point .
Mercenaries is still fresh and i love the grind to make something that later on works on pvp.
Having a blast with the mode , i didnt play Duels or Battlegrounds past the first 2 days.
Yeah I’ll give it that, I really do think it’s the best game if you are up for a ton of grinding. I even wonder if I should redownload it, but I can only fit 3 games on my HD at one time.
The cosmetics are the only thing you can’t get through play, although the grind is certainly tedious. Particularly when you haven’t got the unit yet. And that is often how gachas make money; skins only temporarily available in packs with a 95% chance you won’t get it in time without spending. And you can’t hardly even get packs in this mode without spending cash, since it doesn’t do much for your battlepass.
Still, being the least “Punch Yourself in the Nuts” game in the genre doesn’t necessarily make it a good game.
Every single Mercenary you own gets you 3 packs from tasks.
We have over 50 mercs right now that alone is 150 free packs you can get not counting the massive amounts of coins you get as well and all the free goodies from daily pvp chests and ranks.
I was talking about cosmetics. You don’t get cosmetics from coins. 150 packs will probably get you all the cosmetics for the Rare mercs, and some of the Epic skins, and a couple of Legendary skins. Probably never a Diamond skin, but hey those voice lines are kind of annoying and slow the grind anyway.
Well cosmetics are just that a nice extra for those that put money into the game and the right way to pay the devs.
As long as skins dont give stats/ skills im fine not having any.
I can always hope to get super lucky on a random pack and it makes it even more special since it cost me nothing.
Eh, I’ll never get behind the narrative that gambling has to exist in video games in order for the “devs” to get paid. For one thing, they don’t get paid fairly no matter how much milking is done. Blizzard certainly doesn’t sound like it’s providing a fair and equal work environment for it’s employees.
For another, games existed for a long time before the gambling had to be involved. Gambling is in the game because it pulls in more money than just creating content and selling players the things they want directly. Because gambling is addictive. If games aren’t profitable now without gambling, it’s because of mismanagement. The issue is not that publishers don’t make money, it’s that they don’t make ENOUGH money. Because literally all of the money isn’t enough money for them.
