Matchmaking Algorithm

So I decided to put 2x robes of protection in my deck and played for 6 hours. Not a single match vs mage or warlock or quest shaman. I decided it’s pointless to run it and replaced the card. The very next match I get a mage and then six more mages, and then warlocks and mages. Coincidence?

Yup. Sucks but it just worked out that way.

If you really want to test this put robes in and play 100 games. Then take them out and play 100 games. Then take them out for 5 games and then back in for 5 games and keep doing that for 500 games.

Then have 100 other players do the same. Then we will see what’s up.

It’s not.

There is something going on and all the Blizzard suck up statisticians will tell you no. Then make reference to years of stats.

Then they wont give you a source.

If what you say happened happened, then it happened.

Don’t let the shills say it didnt happen.

It doesn’t happen to everyone. Only the people who complain about anything Blizzard does. your best bet is to praise our corporate overlords, beg their forgiveness, and stroke their egos by only ever playing the premade deck recipes.

I played a Ton of Mages with robes on. Did you track those games?

I saw your robe was open in front.

The matchmaker makes the Bellagio slots look really generous.
It’s the worst, supposedly elo, based system I have ever seen.

On what deck-type did you place your robes?
Its not effective with every class.

I noticed a very distinct change of classes when I switched from Hunter to Paladin last week. It was like a different game.

Actually rogue. It’s not optimal.

Well most favorable class to have robes would be handbuff paladin or aggro priest.

This is overkill. 10 and 10 would probably be sufficient. 20 and 20 for sure, if the effect is as drastic as they claim

I refuse to engage in these topics anymore, and yet, here I am. I feel victimized.

My stance: MM is not rigged in the way you perceive it to be. This is, instead, a phenomena known as confirmation bias, and you yourself (@OP) describe it perfectly.

It’s a conspiracy!

Who knows.

Well then…

“The Biggest MYTHS and CONSPIRACY THEORIES in Hearthstone!” by youtuber Zeddy Hearthstone. At 9:50 discusses rigged matchmaking and includes link to the more substantial video below.

Hearthstone is Rigged! With Proof? by youtuber Hearthstone Tips by Kris O Five. After first making a video mocking conspiracies around hearthstone was compelled to make a correction video discussing patented micro transaction increasing manipulation techniques associated with among other things matchmaking.

Comparision Examples of Digital Card Game Machtmaking Manipulation.

Youtuber Desolator Magic discusses a MTG Arena (a similar Digital Card Game) admission of matchmaking manipulation in “WOTC Bans 2 More Cards, Admits Matchmaking Was Rigged This Whole Time”. at 5:30 min.

The Magic Historian had a video about it as well but I was unable to locate it again. Was in reference to an upcoming commander format weighting cards to determine “appropriate” matches.

By youtube channel GDC (Game Developers Conference), a video “A Course About Game Balance” is just a great discussion, hard to snip it down… 15:35 min. briefly brings up video game ethics and psychological manipulation involving reward systems and 17:24 metrics driven design. Just touches on it.

I agree that your local meta will change if you change your deck.

How is my observation confirmation bias?

Your statement and the beliefs within the statement are in themselves confirmation bias.

Youre saying what you’re saying because you think you perceive something a certain way.

Maybe you NOT seeing patterns is confirmation bias!

Whats in the box!

Oh, interesting. Please, elaborate. How is my statement in itself confirmation bias?

I’m saying it tongue in cheek because I mostly agree with you, BUT!

If you’re allowed to tell me the ONLY reason I just played 50 Paladins in a row (just an example) is because of confirmation bias, then, I get to tell you that…

Your belief in confirmation bias is based on confirmation bias!

BECAUSE, you are going to say, MY observations are polluted, then who says yours aren’t too?

These ARE the droids your looking for! What, cuz some old dude said they aren’t?

Maybe YOU’RE the one being fooled!

50 in a row? I’d say that’s suspicious. Has that really happened? Probably not. Moreover, that isn’t evidence of intentional rigging; that could just as easily be evidence of a bug/glitch in the matchmaking system. It isn’t necessarily nefarious.
