Ever since the Chinese server has opened back up and NA lost a huge portion of their player base my queues on NA are taking 5 minutes or more regularly.
It doesn’t matter if it is Friday night or Saturday afternoon the queue times are all ridiculously long.
I have yet to hit legend this month since I didn’t play the first few days of the month. As a consequence, since you can no longer queue into legend players until you reach legend-- there is barely anybody playing at my mmr in these ranks by the 5th of October.
This is making it almost impossible to climb right now, I can get on for an hour to play and only find 3-4 matches in that time frame when I factor in the time it takes to play the match on top of queue times as well.

5 min queues …that means you got to HIGH legend in 5 days
i find it hard to beleive
If you read the post it says I’m not in legend yet this month. Why do you always do this? And yes I am typically in top 20 ish legend so your point isn’t even valid regardless as it assumes I am not a high legend player.

that doesnt make sense
5 min queues is the quue time of players who are at least top 50
i never got that high but those are the queue times of any streamer ive seen who are that high
You seem to be reading words that are different from what I have wrote here, which is a common theme for you.

a sudden 1000 % increase on queue times in less than 24 hours would never go unnoticed (its less than 24 hours since the last time i played )
i havent seen anyone else complaining about it (checked on reddit ) and i just started playing game at plat with the normal 30 sec o less queue
so im guessing if the game had any server issues earlier its fixed now
This shouldn’t be the case. You should be matched against players with similar MMR all month. That said, there are likely few players at your MMR at any given time, so I actually hope your queue times are a little longer for the sake of the rest of us

Ita true qwark is top player, even saw him linking is priest deck to homi in a recent stream of his
Yeah, top 100 queue times are a bit rough at the moment. It’s the true cost of success.

its because im still in diamond too, cant match with people in legend yet so im stuck with a pool of only like 6 players on repeat

They changed how it works in the spring. You are only matched with the top 100 even when you are in bronze-diamond now.
That’s why your queues are so long (and why the player pool is so small).

i feel ya there as well, at one point on the first day of the month, once i had reached d5 I was in a rotation of facing the same 5 players over and over again

Small update I wasn’t aware of:
The matchmaking system will try first to match you against someone that is not yet legend around your MMR (per ridiculoushat on the VS discord).
Since most of the opponents you’d play against are already in legend due to your MMR, that just slows down the whole thing as it tries to find someone that doesn’t really exist before expanding the pool.
I’m not really sure why it’s coded to do this given the matchmaking changes earlier this year.

I’d tell the Hat that’s dumb design. The rank is PURELY for show in this context; it has absolutely no calculation of skill and it’s a side effect on the UI; you should be matching purely by a metric that denotes skill (and in this case it’s the MMR (or at least as far as we know)).
I can’t think of a single reason that’s good; it’s even kinda contradicting; weren’t we assuming that the Legend 1 player would be matching even with Chicken 10 fast if they happen to have a similar MMR?
I’m guessing it’s because legend players can see their opponent’s rank, and they don’t want players in legend seeing opponents with current bronze-platinum ranking even though rank is meaningless for matchmaking
I just thought of that as well. But it’s still a contamination of gameplay.
They basically confirmed it’s easier for them to rank up to Legend.
But it may be ALSO easier for them to rank in Legend,
because someone of high MMR may be pre Legend.
Yep, but apparently it just slows itself down to enforce the fact that star ranks used to slightly matter.
It’s really dumb, and just makes people like the OP deal with unnecessarily long queues that force the game to first fail to find someone not yet legend with a top 20 MMR before finding them a match.

You’re matched by mmr, so your rank is irrelevant to the topic. You can be bronze or #1 NA… it’s the same queue unless there’s someone nearby MMR and closer to your ranking.
Two months back i was doing my second climb for the month on NA in the middle of the month. I was in Gold playing a match and won. I got sent a friend request which i was sure was an angry rant incoming. I could now see their rank on ladder. The player was already Legend playing against me. You will get matched against as close to your MMR as possible. Rank means nothing.

It doesn’t mean entirely nothing. Apparently it will try to avoid matching you against people that already finished their legend climb for the first stage of the search.
It is still matching by MMR rather than rank, but it slows down to avoid legend matchups if you aren’t there yet. It will allow them after a bit though.
That’s probably why the OP was having massive queue issues. The people in his MMR range were likely almost all done with their legend climb on day 1 or 2, and the system was trying to find someone else before allowing him to play against the other folks in the top 20 ish MMR ranges.
