Sure it should actively try to find someone that is close to their MMR not legend yet. My point was that if it can’t it will grab someone in legend and pair you up. I assumed in my case that since it was mid month everyone within my MMR was already legend and i was correct. It probably had nobody at that point even in D5 to pair me up against.
well you are a troll so, makes sense you dont believe anything
did you find any posts on reddit about a 1000% increase in queue times? i didnt
i think you never noticed when a game has server issues you find many people posting about not just 1 guy in a forum with so many alts
wtf are u talking about alts? this is my only account lmao
also u are contradicting your own statement from earlier
I think there is some correlation to rank. Like I played a bit yesterday maybe 5 games, and my rank is around 1k and most of the matches are around there, but one match was with homi which I play pretty regularly against when I’m higher rank, but he was rated maybe 400 at the time.
So it seems the matchmaking algorithm prefers closer ranks but with branch out if necessary.
One side of this thread seems to be based upon the premise that scarcity of opponents of similar MMR is the only thing that can cause long queue times. This is a bad assumption. Opponent scarcity is one possible cause, but any problem that causes the server or the client to miss a connection can also contribute. Overburdening the servers, Blizzard’s ISP screwing up, any problem with the player’s ISP, or a cheap phone struggling to graphically render the “worthy opponent” wheel spinning, all of these can cause a connection to be missed. A missed connection can lead to an error message, but most of the time it doesn’t — instead you’re just invisibly put back in the queue again, at the back of the line.
A merry-go-round of repeatedly requing lasting 5 minutes is pretty crazy, but it’s not quite impossible.
I wasn’t having connection issues, it was just lack of opponents to queue into. I was queueing into the same couple people on repeat, Uikyou, D0nkey and Simile14.
Then right before hitting legend I queued into the same opponent 3 games in a row, some Spanish name, I can’t recall it.
All were 5-8 minute queues on average.
Sorry i should clarify this better. When i say “rank” i mean Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc…
If you are in Legend it’s just one big pool to me.
