You know what would be nice? If you could mass disenchant all eligible cards in a set at once.
I am the kind of player who only plays standard and a bit of battlgrounds, and i’m quite happy with that, I’ve been playing Hearthstone since quite a young age and i’ve genuinely lost track of how long i’ve enjoyed the game, I love it and almost everything about it, BUT:
disenchanting cards (especially en masse) is especially tedious. when new sets roll out and the standard rotation comes around, certain sets are moved to wild, and I see a business opportunity; I go through and disenchant every card I can from that set to collect as much dust as possible to fuel my venture into the new standard rotation. It works really well and with the supplemental cards and packs you can get from simply playing regularly are often enough to give me access to a large amount of a set at any given time.
Introducing the problem… disenchanting cards, even just one, is a multistep process, made even more tedious by those silly (unneccesary) warnings that pop up every time warning you that it will leave you with less than enough cards to include in a deck. I think it would be nice to include a button that can disenchant every single card in a chosen set all at once, refunding all of the dust and saving potentially hours every rotation. Maybe hide it away and bind it with a lot of warnings and barriers, if you must, so its impossible for someone to find and use it accidentally. It might be cool if the devs took it a step further and offered control, if you’re going to add a feature like this it would be good to add it as a decent content update, this can be acheived by giving the players control over mass disenchant by introducing them to a new page or menu with drop downs or check boxes that let them specify options like ‘don’t disenchant golden cards’ or ‘leave legendaries alone’.
This would be a realllllly nice quality of life upgrade to the game and I would love if this idea got a bit of traction and Blizzard took some time to consider it. If anyone out there is in the same boat as me, or even if you just think its an interesting idea, please give the idea a like and see if we can push the popularity up so the devs are more likely to see it.
Anyway, thanks for your time, just wanted to throw the idea out there finally so its public and can be considered.
What if you accidentally disenchant it? Or your kids somehow do it?
We can safely say, that at some point it would happen with someone. Or you just click the wrong one or you just get into a rage and then in a furry you disenchant your whole collection in a rage.
Theres bleach and knifes around my house. I wouldnt let my children get near them without me supervising. As per the ragequit part, I dont know… never met somebody do that.
i mean theres the refund option if you do accidentally do it, the thing w kids i cant really help you i think thats just something you’d need to safeguard
I guess you’re joking. It does need though excessive confirmation. The usual solution programmers usually have is to just have a pop up that says “type manually with your keyboard “DELETE”” or something (I think World of Wacraft does it for deleting entire characters which is frankly a brutal thing to do if they are fully leveled).
I like the idea. I would do it like this: You can “favorite” / “lock” cards, that will not be disenchanted. Also cards currently in a deck are “autolocked”. When you enter the options menu from your collection screen, there will be a disenchant button. There you can disenchant all “unlocked” wild cards. In the collection screen you can lock cards by klicking them and then there would be a little lock symbol underneath the flavourtext. You just klick the star/lock symbol to lock. For unlocking it will ask “Do you really want to unlock?”
Should be safe enough and save standard only players lots of time.
I’m also a standard only player. I dust all the obsolete cards at rotation so I’ve always got a big supply of dust. I usually spend about 7k gold on packs and then just craft cards as needed for a deck I want to build (or in my case, copy from Funki, Warshack, NoHands, et al). But sometimes I don’t feel like sitting down and going through the tedious process of dusting every single card. This would definitely be a good QoL improvement (as long as it had good safeguards against accidents).
