Should have seen the Rogue that got the most amazing luck ever.
I burned his Sonya. Felt good about it.
Plays Marin. Plays discover Legendary spell next turn.
What does it hit? Sonya. Drops 3 Sonyas. Tidepool comes down. Prep draw 3 cards for 0 mana. Gets 3 copies.
I have the worst luck. However, I did win this game because F Rogues.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and while he had the Sonyas on board that turn, he got the Priest spell that summons your highest cost minion and he got it for 1 mana from excavate. So he ended up getting 6 copies of this spell.
He summoned a Yogg 7 different times, 6 with the spell that also resummoned my Reska, which he took 6 times with the 6 extra Yoggs.
I admire how shaman can do with 1 card what rogue needs to build an entire deck to do.
Truly, elemental shudderblock shaman decks are awesome and more people should play them.
Im not sure what shaman is going to be able to to with sasquawk (in standard)… I mean it can do 3 al’akirs for like 18 damage, but you can already do that with kalimos… mabye making 3 walking fountains…a hail mary nature shaman follow up turn?
Elemental shaman is probably my favorite deck and its so close to being good but it needs some better 3/4/5 mana elementals… the midgame is kind of faulty.
Well, you can triple play your Titan and then triple play your Wish Upon a Star on top of it. 3 titans also = 9 mana discount.
Or triple play your Incindius that you already triple played.
Now, if you’re thinking the battlecry cost doesn’t work for the curve, don’t forget you also get the Hunter location as well.
And you also get target draw with Birdwatching.
Not to mention, Chatty Macaw can be used in conjunction with Wish Upon a Star.
Does macaw recast wish upon a star? I made the mistake earlier thinking it did but the wording suggests it would only recast a spell that you cast against an enemy minion making maccaw less useful.
Really the only reason you’d play the 5/6 mana hunter spells (so far released) that would be recast with mccaw would be with hagatha… which then wouldnt let them be used with mccaw.
I went from thinking the hunter tourist was going to be really fun to thinking its sort of a mixed bag.
I do think it will be fun using that 2 mana parrot to cheat out a bunch of those 1 mana evolve locations though.
Can you share the deck? I keep getting aggro’d and combo’d before I can play any treasures.
Had a game against a mage, got them to 1 HP and clearly had lethal on board, mage thought I was BMing and they Sif’d me for 30 damage on 9 mana.
Next game Overheal Priest destroyed me, it was obvious I was going to lose. Turn 9 I play a stupid 7 mana do nothing Marin, and the guy finishes me off even though I’m flashing the Marin like a disco.
The rest of my games today rinse and repeat, either I win and they concede thinking I’m BMing when really I’m just trying to stall for Marin. Or they kill me faster than I have a hope in H*ll.
I don’t care if I lose, just let me play the d*mn treasures. People are a**holes.
I took the default ramp druid; I removed the Doomkins; I put projectionists/zola to repeat Marin. Turns out the deck is BETTER than the default deck; it can copy the low cost ramp dragons; it can give a better early board.
This is important when the opponent is very fast aggro; people still think Doomkin is amazing; no it’s not against fast aggro because there you need to highroll your cheapest dragons ASAP to survive.
Oh. I didn’t think to try that. I swear I’ve been burned on some other quests before, so I never think casual.
I got through it playing rogue, with lots of shadowstep and break dancer to recast Marin. It was still a grind. First game I got out 5 treasures. Then I had a string of 8 games where I got 1, because aggro opponents destroyed me too fast mostly, or I had bad draw. One lucky opponent ratted my Marin on turn 6 and bladestormed him before I could get him back. Finally had a nice extended game against another rogue and managed to play Marin a couple of times, then tidepool a couple of treasures, then the Golden Monkey gave me another Marin, and I definitely got at least 9 to complete the quest, if not more, before losing.
Still annoying and dicey trying to get through all this. I woulda rather just played 100 elementals or something, which would have taken just as long but at least had steady, predictable progress.
Edited to add: for those who have overlooked it, the rogue’s “draw 2 pirates” card works well if you don’t put other pirates in the deck.
Well if you cant even complete the quest components in non casual because people suck, then its a fine compromise to achieve the objective of the quest.
Your MMR is “sucky” in constructed anyway if you play Standard and go Wild or if you play Wild and go Standard, unless you’re one of the few people who try to rank in both in the same month.
I just go to Wild to do achievements and quests like that.
I didnt say i did either, I was just pointing out a fair compromise to finish a singular quest at hand, which is what was suggested to Quirkz, by Makke. in fact I believe Makke had the best case scenario to finish the quest in my opinion:
I cant think of a better way to do both, finish the quest and have a decent match that goes into fatigue dmg like a good match ought to. lol. If i could do both of those objectives, no amount of extra xp or achievements would matter to me.
Also, I didnt suggest anything about my MMR being sucky, i said
This is me saying that opponents suck in these matches because they deny people playing Marin or his treasures and just deny people the ability to progress the quest at all. If you encounter a lot of these people that suck, then a fair compromise can be found in casual, apparently. And that aint too bad in my view.
