why does this game have a 2 card “i win” combo. how exactly is anyone suppose to counter this?

Similar to Big Priest you don’t counter it. It just locks you out.
it is stupid op combos like this is why i left yugioh.

Well, yugioh has people creating boards like this on turn 1, reliably.
This combination is much, much, much slower in comparison.
And that’s why Yugioh lost that much popularity
