[Main Thread] iOS Device Crashes after Latest Patch

Same problem here with newest iPad mini with highest spec available when I bought it earlier this year.

Some news would be welcome, and as others have said, compensation is needed here. I’ve lost arena games and countless ranked matches now with this issue. And it’s gone on too long.

But I guess we have to live with this for another couple of days now seeing as it’s Christmas. Be generous when you get this sorted. Not happy. Merry Christmas anyway.

Same problem as other users - frequent crashes, most in ranked matches or arena games but also when playing solo content or at times just browsing collection.

Ranked and Arena unplayable because the random crashes/dcs lead to loses.

IPad Pro 9

Problems started with most recent patch.

Really hoping for a quick fix as was very much looking forward to playing Hearthstone over Christmas break and tablet is my primary platform!

No update as expected… getting more annoyed as a new player, can’t say I would recommend this game to anyone like this. Issues are so inconsistent I’ve gone twice from R19 to 1 win away from R15 and then I’ll start getting disconnected/reconnected every match…

Not to mention the mess that is the emote BMing when everytime you get reconnected it unsquelchs the opponent, don’t know which is worse: Squelch not working at all last month or knowing Squelch is so poorly coded.

I legit don’t expect any type of compensation but if changes don’t come next year with all the recent ball dropping (to stay PC) between that wild event, DoD release shaman, the galakrond animation crash and now THIS… well… RIP playerbase with the CCG competition.

Game is nearly unplayable on iPad Air. Client crashes every game.

I confirm all the problems that were reported here with my iPad Air 2 (latest iPadOS 13.3), since the last patch. Ranked games are unplayable because of the random crashes. So I won’t buy nor craft any cards until the game is fixed. Also the chat systematic crash has been going for months and continues.
I never had so many problems with the game before the last 4 months, but the game is nearly unplayable now on mobile. I’m sure the problems are related to this crap of Battlegrounds mode.
This game needs a quick fix, I think it will suffer soon with the new incoming CCGs.

It’s not only iPad PRO, it’s any device that has updated to iOS 13.3.

A few things I have figured out;

  1. It doesn’t disconnect/reconnect/crash if you are on a wifi that is not the one you used to update your phone/ipad
  2. It doesn’t disconnect/reconnect/crash if you are using cellular data.
  3. Any device that I did NOT update to the new iOS does not experience the crashes/disconnects/reconnects

That being said, my iPhone 6 on iOS 12 does NOT disconnect. My iPhone 7 on iOS 13.3 does disconnect, but only on MY wifi. When at a friends house on their wifi it does NOT disconnects and runs the game as normal. Same with cellular data, it runs the game as normal. Tried hard resetting routers/phones. I’ve called tech supports for both my ISP and Router. All of which say it’s on blizzards end considering my internet/streaming/surfing works on all devices on the new iOS. ONLY hearthstone doesn’t function properly.

Had several instances today in which the crashes resulted in battle.net app disconnections:

  • Play a card → attempt to reconnect → unable to reconnect pop-up (immediatly) → disconnected from battle.net.

These problems might have to do something with battle.net aswell since I took a look at task manager hours later after giving up playing at all (even PVE) and I notice there’s a bunch of Agent.exe process running (none of which died after closing battle.net app) (Link: https : // imgur . com/vErqTZH)

as an ipad pro user, we are not only experimenting crashes when matching into a ranked game, ( you can´t reconnect in this case and u just lose your game ), there is another issue, when you are already in a game, the game crashes when you are about to play a card, but in this case you can reconnect and still play the game, it usually happens in turn 2 or early turns. This need to be fixed also cause u have no time in that turn to think your play cause you are roping most of the times you reconnect. Pls reply this comment to tell us you are aware of this problem also.

Exactly the same for me! :+1: iPad seventh generation

iPad Pro 12.9 Second gen, iOS 13.3, game crashes when I tap on a card in my hand. Game loads for a whole minute or two, and won’t reconnect to my game. Then it also spends a coffee break worth of time again, once I tap on Play, or My collection. Sometimes it tries to reconnect, only to tell me “nope”. This mostly happens on the games that go well, to boot. So, not only is a game wasted, but 5 minutes of frustrated trying to make it work. This is unbearable.

This isn’t happening in just ranked matches (though it does have greater impact there when I am playing ranked). I mostly play the solo adventures and I have not seen any pattern to the crashes. I have had this happen on all my iOS devices: iPad Pro 3, iPad Air 4, and iPhone X. It is always mid match, immediately following a screen touch, can happen multiple times in the same game. Fortunately, in solo adventures, it seems that I can reconnect to my game in progress every time.

This might be your experience but it’s not mine. I’m having the constant crashes on different Wi-fi in two different countries so far. I can also confirm that these crashes were happening with my iPad before 13.3.

Why do I know this? It was one of the first things I checked and I thought updating IOS would fix it. It didn’t.

Blizzard need to get better connected with Apple however as there have been a LOT of iPad crashing issues over the last year and they seem to come in around the same time that IOS updates appear.

Crashes occurring in dungeon mode too, can confirm. Most common crash is when you swipe too low on a card with your finger and you accidentally initiate the IOS shortcut interface and this kills Hearthstone. Tested this at beginning of games and doesn’t provoke crashes when you try and prompt it. Occurs intermittently either in middle of games or after a game or two without a crash. Then boom, it goes when you’re not expecting it.

I can’t believe they still haven’t fixed this!

Yes! Never had the problem till the new update with the card nerfs a few days ago! Terrible, what do we play the game for if it doesn’t function properly, this is why actual card games like Magic are still the best option. Just the cards and another gamer and it works fine!

Hmm… I hope Blizzard takes this kind of software defect seriously, because these kinds of circumstances cause gamers to find other companies to support. I hope that there is a download in the works to deal with the iPad, which have more than enough power to stop crashing, especially since it is in ranked where the game fails to even reconnect. Play mode still manages to connect back to games which is strange! This should have been taken care of sooner, I suppose the holidays are playing a role is the programmers getting the bug patched! Please fix the problem for us iPad users!

Seeing crashes on my 5th Gen, plenty of space on it, reinstalled, lost many arena’s because of this. Cannot even play on ipad anymore.

HOW is this not fixed yet!? We are unable to play the game for more than week!

We better get a compensation for this!
