Mage got a piece of a deck and nothing else

Once again, Team 5 has chosen to abandon current decks in mage
and go a completely different direction,
with the problem being there aren’t enough cards to support the new deck.
And so, Mage will get to remain with one deck (again) that probably will be trash tier garbage against the new decks, until at least the next full release,
at which point they will give them support to make them tier two or better, then everyone will cry and moan about “uninteractive” and “unfun” and they will kill the class again.
Rinse and repeat. Nothing ever changes in this product.
Team 5 hates mage.

Mage mostly just got support for freeze mage, which is odd considering they also retired all the best freeze mage cards at the start of the year.

So, mage gets a bunch of cards for an archtype that no longer exist basically.

It was intentional. They have repeated this same pattern over and over.
Release mage decks that are strong and everyone complains about.
Nerf them to mediocrity.
Release miniset that has nothing to do with existing decks.
Force mage players to wait and hope that whatever trash the miniset had will work when the new full expansion drops.
If it does and it’s good they will nerf it within a month.
Team 5 is either incompetent or they are incredibly biased.

Yeah, considering the three archetypes they already pushed, trying to push Freeze Mage was…
A curious choice, indeed. Specially with three cards. Could have been 1 card for each archetype.

yeah they made certain there is almost zero synch with existing decks.

Maybe Ping will get support next expansion. Freeze Mage might actually be playable in my opinion.

You think so? If you have an idea for a deck, post it!
I would love to see:) I’m not a great deck builder.

Team 5 will go full secrets or some combo BS next expansion and the freeze cards won’t see play.

They already had new Freeze cards in the base FitB set. As well as the Spellburst Freeze minion from Darkmoon Races.

How many Freeze cards does a Freezechuck chuck if a Freezechuck could chuck Freeze?

A Freezechuck would chuck no amount of Freeze cards since a Freezechuck can’t chuck Freeze

Maybe in Standard. But what about Wild?

In wild, freeze mage still isn’t a thing. Draw and finishers are still missing. All you do is…freeze, or hope to freeze. Because there actually aren’t many easy, low cost freeze cards, but a ton of freeze dependent cards

Flurry, Brain Freeze, and many other options are available.
So much stalling should give the player a win condition, ideally a Combo, perhaps, to justify such as defensive deck.

Can freeze and Ping not be the same deck? Worth trying I think

At this point Mage getting pieces of something that only works in the future(if we are lucky) is tradition.

For me its Elemental Mage from Darkmoon Fair all over again, Mage doesnt have the early game minions to take the board and by the time you get to use this so called Freeze support cards you are on your way to an early grave.

I personally think that the freeze package got enough support to form something.

Probably freeze/secret tempo deck, but maybe freeze/hp as well (although this seems harder).

I like the way they design “buckets” for mage instead of full decks. It is similar to what they did with Paladin and secrets, instead of it needing a dedicated full deck to function, it’s instead a package of cards that you slot in to cover an aspect of a deck.

I see no package here. I see a crippled deck, but let me know if you make something work.
It irks me that Team 5 can give other classes cards that have synergy with existing archetypes, but never mage. Mage is always given something that might be good in the future and players are left to piecemeal decks with the scraps.

Printing an entire deck of 30 cards is just boring.
There needs to be just enough support for one archetype to be lightly combined with something else.

The point of the miniset is not to make a working archetype stronger but rather boost underperforming archetypes or bring up some new ones to diversify the game.

Uh huh. Paladin has gotten synergy every expansion for the entire rotation, but Mage hasn’t.
Your idea only works if support is given with every release.
For several expansions in a row. Mage has been given playstyles only to have them nerfed to mediocrity, then abandoned with no additional support.
So, bias or incompetence, you decide.
