I actually think the variety makes it slightly better than academic espionage. I dont want 10 rogue or warlock cards for instance id rather have a spread of options.
That being said, the original was a bad card and the game has only got faster since then. So assume this one will be pretty bad too…
So, building for me as often as you have, I know you see my questions.
Simple and fast is all I’m really good at.
(Which, if others who complain about what I post would just consider, explains everything. )
These cards seem like they might enable fast, and fairly straight forward deck(s) again for mage, which is all I have ever wanted:)
Robo caller is the premium example of power creep.
Let’s compare to arcane brilliance. No one runs ab but it’s used in discovery all the time.
3 mana draw 2. That’s the base line in a vacuum.
Let’s look at robo caller. How about we slap on a free 3/2 body? Oh not enough? Okay let’s add one more card draw. Oh no enough? Let’s make it so it can also be used to tutor not one but three cards randomly. Sounds good?
I feel like the card will be nerfed not because of the power creep, but because the cycle will inevitably be abused to feul some toxic otk decks.
I think thats why there is so much rng involved in what it draws. So it is kinda clunky and you cant consistently jam it on 3 or 4 and then win on turn 6 lol
Not really because it randomly decides what cost cards you get. You can still build a curve that compliments this card making it flexible for sure though
So there is no way to tutor Wf with this then. Thanks for explaining. Now I know I got nothing.
Oh well, maybe the other card helps Secret. I doubt it, but We shall see.
Skyla is an interesting card. It opens up the possibility of running bsm with low cost spells in your deck. I love how this creates a bigger range of possible deck design since you can now run different styles of bsm.
First thing i thought of. Looks like Salesman has a use back in Mage again. If that card was still 0 it’s would incredibly powerful. Probably a good thing they moved it to 1 after all.
Portalmancer is just another way to cheat out big spells along with King Tide.
If Rogue had a standard Highlander deck that Robocaller would be insanely powerful. It’s stilla pretty good card and probably sees lots of play.
Arcane briliance is prime example of unplayble junk that should never have been printed to start.
Just the fact that you’re comparing with it is enough to call you wrong.
Powercreep on bad cards is not only acceptable but desirable. The only thing better than that is If blizzard did go to the card itself and buffed it but powercreep is an acceptable midterm.
Really tired of the ant powercreep crew and hope you just stop talking the BS being talked for years and quit if the powercreep get you so bad you can’t have fun.
Cards that aren’t played aren’t fun for anyone and people should not let anyone tell otherwise.
Cards that aren’t played do not exist for power creep purposes. You can’t power creep a card with 0 power, and every card that isn’t played has 0 power.
There is something important to consider with Robocaller: if I am not mistaken, it starts at 8-8-8 the turn you draw or discover it. Unless you want to tutor something like Everything Must Go or Snatch and Grab, this is dead the turn you draw it. That means it is a card you need to sit on for at least 1 turn, and you can’t really shadowstep (I think? Would it reset? Not sure). After that, it becomes a really really good card for BSM and a… ok-ish… maybe? maybe bad or maybe good actually if rng is kind - kinda card in most rogue decks.
My prediction is that you will see this card in BSM and only in draw-heavy, miracle type rogue decks and nowhere else. I generally think people are overestimating this card. Hope I’m wrong tho
