Why locking the best Priest portrait behind the pay wall? Just sell if for 1000 gold and we would all be happy.
It seems to me that Blizzard is trying to cash out as much as they can recently without thinking about our f2p community. People play game to avoid their harsh reality where nice stuffs need money to get. Why bringing that bad practice to game?
Most free to play games lock cosmetic items behind paywalls. Blizz has to make money off the game somehow.
I find a more legitimate complaint to be that it is locked behind the expensive pre-order, and can not be purchased individually for a lesser amount of real life money if that skin is the only thing you are interested in.
Okay serious…
That is a problem but isn’t the bundle fault. We already pay for packs and it isn’t free. So they should gave more meaningfull cosmectics to achievements.
I don’t think this is even a Blizzard problem… it’s a “big entertainment corporation” problem who are pushing the limits further and further.
Companies like Blizzard are trying to reach the people who are semi big spenders.
When you have 10 dollar to offer every 3 months… they basically push that customer away, instead they are looking for that customer who is throwing around 50 dollars every month or even week.
It would be nice if all the portraits were available for sale individually. I wouldn’t mind purchasing a portrait or two if I could have some of the later ones.
Locking them behind preorders is kind of dumb. They’d probably make more money selling them in the shop a month or two AFTER release.
Then again, how else would we know that our opponent had $200 to burn? Even if I did have $200 to burn, it’d probably go to yarn. Lots and lots of yarn. Those sugar wheels are so soft and pretty!
Hearthstone is a fun game, but spending money on it doesn’t make sense. Luckily there does exist a population of people who for some reason do think it makes sense to spend money on it.
Quoting this from my boy Shadowrisen from hearthpwn.
You refuse to hear the simple truth, no matter how many replies in that 30 page monstrosity we posted. We DID vote with our wallets. We DO want things that separate those who keep this game alive from those who just enjoy it.
No shade to f2p players whatsoever, but it is a simple statement of fact that money spenders keep the game going. No one is ashamed of having something that distinguishes us from f2pers. And of course, you’d always rather the distinguishing perks to NOT affect gameplay so as to create a pay to win situation any more than necessary. Therefore, hero skins and card backs are the most obvious candidates.
I spend more money than most on this game. I’ll enjoy my new priest hero, and I’ll enjoy the fact that you don’t have it unless you supported the game. You aren’t owed anything.
I mean, some people have lives to attend to and can’t do the grinding/playing needed in order to consistently build a variety of decks. If you have a minimum wage job, then dropping 5+ hours of work for the same amount of packs you’d get from a month and a half of playing seems like a fair trade.
There’s cost effective and reasonable pricing, and then there’s Hearthstone. Might as well walk into a casino and pull a lever or flush money down a toilet and watch the water swirl around.
As I said in another thread, I have no problem with that. My beef is with this being the second Priest alternate with a VERY short promo period (compared to others except Khadgar, but Mage also has access Medivh for $10) while they have no other options for their hero portrait than Anduin, especially when its behind an $80 paywall. I have a suspicion that Maiev wont be available upon rotation, but at least there was 2 years to get her. Probably Arthas as well, but Paladins can STILL get Liadrin if they choose to.
You’re entitled to your opinion, but it clearly isn’t one that is shared by all the people that decide to support the game. It’s similar to doing something like going to a restaurant or sporting event. You could /technically/ cut a lot of corners to save money (e.g. grow your own ingredients and cook your own food/watch the game online), but you do the former because you enjoy it and want to support whatever industry or local businesses are involved.
