Legal action was taken against EA when they used lootboxes to create a digital casino. Given the predatory slant the new arena mode has been given with the clear purpose of extracting money from players instead of actually considering the player experience, should we come together and create a petition or class action lawsuit?
The only thing modern Blizzard seems to care about is money. So we should hit them in their bank accounts if we want to correct the direction they’ve been forcing the game in recently. Who agrees? How many people would be willing to get involved with something like that.
A lawsuit would not be effective. The only way they will be forced to change is if we stop playing en masse and speak with our wallets. Stop spending money on the game, do not play arena, etc.
no one ain’t paying me sh*t
If you want to make a rant, make it properly
There are a lot of ways the game can be criticized but your approach is just completely out of reality
Tell me what makes the arena rewards comparable to lootboxes, and on what point they are illegal ?
If arena or the rewards were only obtainable via money ONLY, their MIGHT be a microscopic chance for a case, but they are not, sorry you and the many others were…foolish enough to spend actual money on the game, but that is entirely your own fault
Arena entrances are random.
You get a random hero and a random legendary with a predetermined load out.
You get to choose between the three loadouts they provide.
You paid the same as everyone else to join the arena. Your options are severely limited.
I paid 150 gold, I got x hero, they suck. I got a b c legendaries, they also suck. I proceed to get every card that is against x hero and will not work with a b c legendary.
It’s MERIT based? I’m either blessed or cursed.
Granted, I’m Blessed and suck, 4 wins out of 12.
Granted, I’m Cursed and amazing, 4 wins out of 12.
You cannot tell me you haven’t experienced an arena match in which you only had the option of playing perfectly, but got screwed regardless.
I’m not saying that the RNG shouldn’t exist, I’m not saying people should get lucky or unlucky.
I’m saying hey, you lost 3 rounds in a row, our bad, here’s one on us.
I’m saying hey, you got stuck with the lowest rated hero and the lowest rated legendary, here’s one on us.
I’m saying hey, this legendary doesn’t work unless we magically give you stuff to support it, here’s one on us.
I’m saying HEY, WE LOSE NOTHING, CONVINCING YOU TO PLAY MORE IF ONLY SKILL MADE THE DIFFERENCE.
a predatory system designed to maliciously siphon in game currency off of players in a vapid attempt to get them to buy currency with real money is absolutely trackable. With a lawsuit we could force them to reveal their matching algorithm and win/loss data as well as financial statements following the rework. If there is a noticeable uptick in profit due to manipulated win/loss rates, then we have a case
I admit, there may actually be legal grounds to bring legal action against the company. The “loot box gambling” is mirrored in what they are doing. I do not wish to punish people developing a game I did enjoy… merely make the marketing body behind them understand they are killing the only mode left that is remotely fun. I feel worse for the streamers that depend on it for income, I loved watching Dreads, Redbeard, Zenny and such playing arena, get in there myself, be able to get 5-7 wins, and with dailys, get right back in… now i can’t even watch half a youtube video without being bored. I have no gold to play the mode, and watching only streamers and bots play, it’s like watching standard with meta decks…mind numbingly boring. Way to put people out of work Blizz, gg.
