Left handed & and one handed mode

Left handed & and one handed mode would allow SO many more players to enjoy hearthstone that otherwise cannot or will not because the game only has 1 screen orientation. This makes it unusable in many situations, even as a right handed person.
Other than leaving fonts in the same orientation, this is quite easy to accomplish. I was surprised to see this still has not been tackled after this many years.

There are some very poor ways around this lack of a feature for android and ios, but adding it to the game would surely generate revenue for your company, no questions asked. The oversight here explains itself. Enjoy.

Good point, but it needs big brains for those artists that seem to control Blizzard. Probably a 10 minute job for a good graphics/UI programmer though.

I dont see how the game prevents one handed or left handed people from playing currently… I only ever have 1 hand operating my phone’s screen in a game, and i use both left or right hands to interact with the board and my cards… I havent encountered any issues or limitations thus far…

can you give an example of what you mean?

Agreed. I have multiple sclerosis and my right hand barely works at all. I can put my phone in it and hold on to it thanks to PopSocket so I am forced to use my left hand which doesn’t work very well either

I manage but it sure would be nice to have a left-handed mode

Cards are on the right.

I feel like you are beginning a sentence there but it just ends… without any explanation of how the game prevents someone from using either of their hands to play the game currently…

and cards arent on the right… they are on the bottom of the screen… yeah i am 100% not understanding the first thing about what you are trying to say here Carn. Normally you make sense and are not so shy from making complete explanations. But so far in this thread its like i wanna say “who are you and where is the real Carn?”

I already play with one hand, its a one hand type of game

You literally have to click on the right to use cards on phones. I don’t get why people act arrogantly, when they supposedly asked for help.

Also the hero button is on the right.

Also the End Turn.

Ok end turn being on the right and the hero power on the right… that’s accurate? But doesnt make it any harder for a left handed person, or just using one hand to play any more difficult tho. The phone is flat on a surface, or your lap, or in some holster, raise your hand of choice and index finger, play game as normal. Being left handed and the end turn button being on the right doesnt make it any harder on a lefty when you are literally hovering your hand of choice directly above the screen and can reach all of its surface with the smallest changes of just your finger angle, possibly even the more microscopic change of your wrist angle… but given the phone is directly ahead of you in the center and neither hand is needed to hold the phone itself, there isnt any issue there.

Are you people holding your phone AND trying to operate the screen with the same hand? (like one might answer their phone this way) If so, thats a problem that was invented that didnt actually exist… the end turn button being about 1.5" to 2" the right half of the screen is about the distance your index finger ought to be able to extend in that direction…

So far I am absolutely not convinced outside of the rare case of some accessibility reasons such as someone with some hand issues or any other condition that there is any issue here, or even any minor inconvenience either. The normal operation of using no hands to hold the phone and just operating the device like normal by hovering the hand or your choice over the screen and just press and dragging as needed seems to be the obvious and intuitive way to play HS on a phone. If on some massive tablet, all the more reason to not be holding the device and having it flat in front of you, on lap, in some variety of holding options.

For a long time now I have been using one of those around the neck holders for my phone when playing HS, I normally only ever see them for sale around xmas time for whatever reason, but they are typically depicted as letting a person watch movies or any media really, comfortably and hands free, which is super helpful while in a vehicle or on a flight/train etc. I keep it extended to about where my sternum and belly border each other and I can one hand play the game with either hand I want to.

But this is my defacto method of playing on my mobile for the last 4 or 5 years now.

after a bit I modified mine to just be a magnetic holster instead of the clamp grip style. so much better lol.

Are you left handed? Also it doesn’t need much imagination to get it, it’s not about doing it once but about the REPEATED usage of it from the hand you’re not used to do doing most things accurately in the rest of you life.

You’re effectively debating that left handed and right handed things make no sense at all.

You are way off.

I freely use either hand on my phone, picking a card from the far left of my hand or far left of the board and bringing it to the right side using my right hand is essentially the same as reaching the left hand across the screen to hit the end turn button. either of which is about the same for either hand… essentially the Venn Diagram to illustrates where each hand would be and the overlap of their “reach” would be length of my index fingers. if i were 2 handing it they would cross each other like an X. But I dont two hand it lol.

How am I way off? you only just now brought up using a non dominant hand that seems to be implied it suffers from undeveloped dexterity? Meaning your other hand cant seem to use the phone screen at the same level as the dominant one can. I mean sure my left hand cant write like my left can, but thats a difficult muscle memory to develop that takes many years to cultivate and develop. but phone screen interactivity isnt on that level of difficult learning curve.

It was like pulling teeth to get get you to bring up something that as far as I know, not many people suffer from such an undeveloped dexterity to the point a touch screen is an issue. Again, im not expecting someone to be able to freehand draw with both hands… but if you can use a lighter, house key, or really anything along those lines, with your non-dominant hand… then I dont get how there is an issue.

It’s not to say that it’s impossible or anything. We’re not saying that. If I have to reach across the phone with my left hand, I’m blocking out the screen. It’s just an irritation and it would be nice if they could address it

There are a lot of things you don’t realize when you’re able-bodied and “the norm” that become apparent as your disability progresses. Which is what I’ve experienced with MS. Slowly but surely I realized how much harder the world is to navigate when it isn’t built for you

And I don’t expect the world to revolve around me or anything like that. But it’s really nice when people take you into consideration when they are building stuff. It helps a lot and makes a difficult life a little easier

It doesn’t matter what you do. I can use both hands interchangeably in some cases myself. It’s about accessibility to other people.

Yeah and Ive openly stated already that I carve out this obvious type of exception:

Forgive me if it Im being anything other than curious with this next question: Isnt it the same issue using the right hand to move or interact with the left side of the screen? the right hand would be covering the majority of the screen just from the other direction?

Now if someone out there is one handed I can obviously see this being a mild irritant eventually. No issue with these types of accessibility needs being met.

But thank you for giving a clear and descriptive occasion that could be addressed. So far its just so nebulous and vague. I appreciate how direct your reply has been, :+1:
