In MTG there is at least counter spell. No, you cannot play this.
MTG have ban system. If card is super overpowered - it’s just get banned, not have cost increased by 1 or 2
Jace the mind sculptor was second set of a block => standard for 20 month got a ban his last month of standard(oh no he wasn’t standard legal for 21)
stoneforge mystic was good with the release of Swords during scars of mirrodin(first part of stoneforges 2nd block) and was 11 month till got a ban(again oh no it wasn’t 12)… At the time only tech card to beat Jace was to legend rule by playing jace therefor by your logic beat brann by playing brann
Edit: we just had people complain cards like objection(playing around this would be the tech you are looking for?) existing so much they nerfed a wild deck(kabal lackey) so that it isn’t playable
agreed. this game is turning into a “oh thats just a class ill never beat, concede” and move on. instead of making cards with mechanics that give every deck a chance to go against every deck and have a chance.

When it comes to countering meta decks, I’m all for it, if those decks suit my playstyle. If they don’t, I’d rather pick up that meta deck, convinced I’ll win most of the mirrors because I’m a better player.
If I don’t, well that sucks, it just means I’m not good enough to improve ranks. Git gud!
But is it good to have one dominate deck in a game? You’re just net-decking to win at that point. There is no player agency. You may as well play Chess.

No, I’m saying that line of thinking is more linear and represents Chess over cards.
Just because a counter exists, does it matter when it only mostly wins to that 1 deck, but loses a lot overall? It’s not a real counter to the meta, just the top deck. It’s like an anti-meta deck in Yugioh!. It may top 32, but it really isn’t keeping anything in check.

When one deck has 30% playrate, as Warrior now does, a deck which counters it still probably wins more than it loses. I don’t recall if we ever had a meta-counter which was literally countered by every single other deck. It’s just statistically unlike due to all the different playstyles of other classes and decks

Counters to warrior are currently tier 1 based on last VS report - Sludgelock, Insanitylock, Zarimi priest, hunter all counter it

Even when that’s not the case, then we have a rock-paper-scissor meta, which is as balanced (and boring) as it gets. The last two patches were anything but that. We’ve consistently had 8-9 viable classes with tier 1 or 2 decks.

There have definitely been decks that only counter 1 deck. That’s why they make crazy tech cards, like destroy secrets. I don’t know how long you have been playing this game, but I remember decks teching destroy secrets and still being tier 3. I guess tier 3 is meta, but I’m talking tier 1 and 2. Legends.
I’ve been playing since 2015, and I’ve never experienced a true rps meta. Granted, I never hit “Diamond” until 2016. I don’t know what was considered “good” back then. I was like, rank 3. I dunno how that translates. Anyways, my credentials, I imagine a true RPS format is only high legend.
Yes, it does. As I’ve heard (wouldn’t know, since I returned to the game in November last year), Warrior was completely unplayable for a year, and now they wanted to bring it back.

Warrior has always been their go-to control option to make popular, I’d guess because he makes for the longest matches, so their tournaments get longer view time xD
It’s what happens at the end of every single rotation, when all the expansions are out and many balance patches were done. It’s literally what we had before Whizzbang came out for a month or two

I guess I’ve never been that into. I mean, last month I hit Diamond by playing in the last 5 days. I never try for legend. When Classic came out, I hit Legend every month. I’d consider myself a good player. But I’ve never seen a RPS format.
But we agree 30% is way too much. So, what are you arguing against? I feel like, just like with mathematics, you are just trying to explain why something is, instead of giving your own stance. No offense, but that is kinda weak.
