Its past time to nerf Asteroid

but they are spells not minions just have a board bad idea to add inconsistency to the game

pre buff libram paladin was able to farm asteroids it must be better at it now

Oh dear…someone didn’t get the memo xD

I call bull crap on the standard part. This is wild priest and we all know it. Priest doesn’t have NEARLY the kind of tools in standard to ressurect that starship enough to get that kind of armor in standard. This is a wild ressurect deck with stuff like twilight’s call, grave rune, mass ressurection and such. There’s no way this happens in standard.

In case you didn’t get the memo, standard priest doesn’t have the tools to go late game. Standard priest is all out aggro. Pain priest, zarimi priest, etc. Slow priest decks don’t work in standard right now.

Uhhh, yes, yes they do.

Creation protocol creates 2 extra copies of the minion it hits, if that’s a defense crystal, now you’ve got 4 in the deck and a spaceship that will gain 24 armor on death. If both hit defense crystals, 36 armor.

Then you’ve got exodar, which can create new copies of your 4-6 defense crystals and launching that ship.

And synchronizes to do it two more times.

And amanthul to make copies of it.

And shattered reflections to make copies of it.

And revive your most expensive thing hits your ship.

Priest has no trouble just going nuts on defense crystal armor gains.

That said, I imagine the deck isn’t particularly good.

Meanwhile swarm shaman is doing swarm shaman things, dungar druid is doing dungar druid things, hunter is clobbering you with ABJ, warlock is playing wheel of death, weapon rogue is sapping/deafening the taunts and smacking face for 10 a turn, and zarimi priest is playing time warp.

A deck like that isn’t remotely playable in standard. No point even discussing it.

Their goal is fatigue. It’s probably doable against the mid range and aggro decks.

Not sure if it’s doable against slow decks as it is doable in wild.

Does that priest deck have an actual win con besides outlasting the opponent? Won’t save it from actual OTKs either.

LOL I never played a single game of Wild in my life

Yes, we’ve already established today that you are an idiot.

Here’s the link to the replay, so you can check for yourself:

And screenshot from the tracker, clearly placing the game in Standard:

Why talk if you’re clueless??

P.S. Ranks look different in Wild and in Standard. If it was, in fact, Wild, it would have plant tentacles over it.

It’s safe to say that there’s no 400 dmg OTK happening anytime soon

I guess a Druid could potentially do it, but definitely not consistently enough, and no other class can come close.

Eh, I did about 680 with starship rogue yesterday.

When you get enough time to build a really, really large ship, silly things can happen.

28 attack ship
4x biopod
2x figures
1x scavenger ships to get 2 ships

Launch ship + prep
28 x 4 x 2 x 2 damage = 448 damage
Then ceaseless to clear the board
28 x 4 x 2 = 224 damage

448 + 224 = 672 total damage

I did not need anywhere near that much damage, but I had it.

There’s no way that starship priest is going to be any good into the current standard meta. I’ll rescind my comment that it was a wild match, but I refuse to believe it’s a viable deck to play in standard.

Define “viable”.

It’s too early to know, and by the looks of it, most people would rather die than play it

But there’s always people who like extremely boring stuff, and once you become inoculated with big armor gains, this one is extremely boring.

The problem with that deck is it’s almost entirely spells. It has to be in order for its discovers to target a curated minion list. I’m going to assume the only minions he runs are arconite defense crystals, Ra’den, Amanthul, and The Exodar. I can tell you right now that if that’s the case (which the reply highly implies it is) he’s going to struggle in two important areas in most standard matchups. Priest doesn’t have a good early game defense into aggro decks with just its spells. Its earliest sweeper is hot coals/holy nova (and by then you’re facing 3 and 4 health minions) and nightshade tea isn’t great into wide boards that also buff.

The flipside of what priest can do with its aggro power is drop Overzealous healer and Brain masseus on 1, buff it with orbital halo the same turn, play a crimson clergy and buff it to a 2/5 stat line with synchronize, throw a funnel cake on em or use fan club for draw, or if its zarimi drop ship’s chireugeon and giftwrapped whelp into whelp wrangler and go from there.

Priests ability to control minion flood with just spells lines up very poorly with the speed that swarm boards vomit bodies and buffs. It doesn’t fare well into swarm shaman or pirate DH either. His opening hand consisted of lightbomb, creation protocol (which if you want to forge on 2 means passing a turn), shattered reflections and ra’den. The whole deck is slow as molasses and really doesn’t line up with what other decks are doing. Dungar druid will blow you out on 5, swarm decks will do big things faster, and libram paladin will be making monstrous minions with libram of divinity.

On the draw point: Priests card draw right now is limited to ethereal oracle, crimson clergy, scale replica and… thrive in shadows (which again is really REALLY slow into aggro). Clergy only draws much with the help of hidden gem, dreamboat, and funnel cake, and scale replica only works with dragons, and oracle is gonna cut into his targeted minion creation protocol. You can see by turn 7 and 8 he’s down to just 3 cards in hand. His hand sustain is very poor and I’m pretty sure you got highrolled.

If a list like that can become popular and be good in standard I’ll be forced to eat my words, but I HIGHLY doubt that to be the case. It looks like a meme deck to me. I won’t believe it’s good until it proves itself on ladder.

Most likely this is the deck. At least this is the one i played to see what it was all about. i went 12-13 with it. It’s probably at its best a tier 3 deck but mostly a tier 4 decks.

2x (1) Deafen
2x (1) Nightshade Tea
2x (2) Creation Protocol
2x (2) Power Chord: Synchronize
2x (2) Thrive in the Shadows

It’s going to lose some important cards at rotation but maybe it picks up better cards to enable it in the future. I’m curious to see if it gets any support cards with the mini set.

As I suspected. There’s just far too many cards in a list like this that are dead weight. And swapping them out for alternatives isn’t really gonna fix the core issue. Priest’s removal right now is only mediocre, and you CAN’T reliably build for a near full on full removal deck via spells in this meta and be successful. Shadow word: Ruin is highly niche and while it can be useful into some stuff, you never ever want it before turn 5 or 6 and against swarm aggro you never want it PERIOD. The card draw is abysmal… you WILL gas out very quickly. Lightbomb is also a really weak removal because every important minon (and I mean EVERY one) has more health than it does attack.

Can a deck like this win games? Sure, any deck that has stuff it can play on 1 through 5 can occasionally win. But is it good or strong? No way. Aggro priest is just far better to climb with. And other classes are doing far more powerful things much faster than this.

I would say most of my games it wasn’t even the rush that beat me. It was simply not being able to make enough Arkonite’s to make playing Raden worth it. You can very frequently get to the point of playing Raden and the card is bringing back literally nothing. The games i won i discovered the Arkonite on curve and then copied it the following turn and had two in the pool to start the engine. The odds of that happening are very low.

The deck would probably need 2 more cards to duplicate the Arkonite to push the decks power up.

Doesn’t seem like it would be a fun deck to play or play against. Sure, you can rack up armor, but if the opponent can disrupt what you’re trying to do via silence, poly, Reno, or just plain rushing you down before you can get going, you’re toast. Wheel of Death locks would probably eat you alive as well and all the armor in the world won’t save you.

They wouldnt need it if they had…u know…a wincon.

Control decks? There’s plenty of control decks from various classes with multiple built in win conditions. The mad armor gain is to offset the insane damage output from 5-6 turn combo decks.

At least with those decks you can actually play something to counter it, not just wait to be killed by 30+ spells that cast themselves and have +5 spell damage.
