I have always been a player who has quit the game and returned. Iv quit 3-4 time taking months or years off at a time after being disgusted or disgruntled with certain issues. Every time I come back I am left with large gaps in my collection id love to fill in. For example I missed the entire Witchwood expansion and if it was ever put on sale would gladly buy a card or pack bundle for it.
I just dont get why old expansions dont go on sale more often. Do they ever go on sale? I cant recall a time where iv seen discounted older expansions in any of my on again off again years.
$20 says 1 or 2 of them are the ones I paid for a month or so ago not realizing that. Anyways I appreciate very much that info about solo adventures. But those have always been purchasable at a somewhat reasonable price. They are not the issue. The issue is expansions where you have to buy packs of cards and hope you get what you want. If you miss an expansion when it came out it can take an insane amount of money to buy packs to fill it in. And just as much essence.
So again I REALLY appreciate the advice you just gave. I imagine it will help people over the years that stumble across your answer! But the expansions you have to buy packs of cards are the things we need cheaper options to fill in. Reducing their price just makes sense in every way unless they are worried people will fill up their collections and thus not buy deals of wild packs anymore. The more cards we have after all, the more when we buy new packs we are likely to get what we truly want.
It just feels like outside of greed I cant find a logical reason to not help players who missed out on expansions fill in those gaps by putting old sets on sale…ideally including for reduced 50-70 gold costs not just real money.
I can see why youd see it as greed. But maintaining a business to maintain the game and develop new content for us and maintain the technical aspects of it daily, costs money. So they have no incentive to lower prices for older sets if they can charge the same as new sets. Sure they arent bought as often as the new ones, but they kinda knew that as they kept making new expansions on a scheduled rollout. Each Expansion is meant to bring in a certain amount of revenue of irl money. Its the f2p puritans that kinda make it seem you are a shill for the company if you acknowledge that reality, that they are a business providing a product, and the least we can do is spend some money on it… but apparently there is even less we can do. lol.
I aint saying we all need to be whales. But I see the players that proudly wear the “I’ve never spent anything in all these years” badge as a bunch of entitled freeloaders that are proud of their freeloading. I just think even the player that has spent the minimum amount like a single booster or an expansion adventure like Naxx, etc, are by far more decent and respectable.
IF you want the old sets, just buy em with gold saved up over time or throw them a few bucks when its a financially responsible time for you to do so. Im still trying to collect the original set lol.
If no one is buying them there is incentive. Id be curious to see the rates they are being bought at.
I disagree strongly. Being greedy/anti consumer is a bad practice. It eventually bites these mega corps and even the most popular games on the but. Theres your incentive to not push capatalism past jerk mode and into sociopath mode as Blizzard tends to do.
Where you see freeloaders, I see people bucking a capitalist company who has never shown respect for its customers, employees, society or anything else but money. If anything I think your attitude is gross and speaks ill to our culture that people take the side of capitalist companies so greedy they are being investigated by entire countries. If anything im disgusted iv spent money on this game vs boycotting it given Blizzards history towards customers and its employs both. This games made hundreds of millions if not billions at this point. The company is worth an insane ammount and makes an insane ammoint every year. Its CEO owns yachts. Meanwhile most people playing the game f2p probably are struggling in life. Again blows my mind people would rather whine for a company with manipulative practices than the abused consumers…double so given the rotten society/economy we live in globally and in the US where the games made.
are you new to blizz? blizz used to be the exact opposite of what you describe yet you say never. AND AGAIN everytime someone disagree with you you call them names. btw blizzard is from america a capitalist country. if you dont like it just stop buying their stuff and move on. oh and what other people own have nothing to do with you!!! you just sound jealous at this point
They provided you a game where there is a free to play option. Know who’s certainly never done that? A Mario Bros Title from Nintendo. A Soul Calibur title from nearly every console its been on. A Street Fighter title. But I bet those hold a special place in your gaming heart and you conveniently forget they are owned by capitalist corporations out to make their company as much money as they can, because, many many people’s careers are on the line if they dont.
I seem to recall Star Wars Galaxies becoming free to play as well as subscription based. That didnt last very long i can tell you that… I still miss my clone trooper armor I had set up in my pad like Barney in How I Met Your Mother has with his Storm Trooper armor. Then SW:TOR became FTP and sub, it is currently dying as even I have left it some time ago. And I pre ordered the collector’s edition of the original release. I love that little statue of Malgus (might be wrong on name) and the custom speeder that reminds me of a STAP from Ep 1.
All the games I have loved that went F2P have died or are dying. Hearthstone began as a hybrid and I though it would live about as long as Heroes of the Storm did on my computer… about a month. But here I am, many years later, still playing it.
Im not supporting the company’s misconduct by purchasing things from them, Im supporting the careers of the people that actually worked to bring us this joy. To maintain it so its always available (except on reset day.) To develop new things for us to enjoy on a scheduled rollout basis. Those are the people for I why I choose to part with my hard earned income when its a financially responsible time for me to do so. I can not control the actions of a misbehaving management, or a toxic work environment with a certain part of the company. None of us can, unless you say to boycott, then you inadvertently affect all the people I just spoke about so fondly.
Its easy to paint something with a wide brush, but its also sloppy, and doesnt really do the job very well usually. I can have two minds about something and both be true: 1-I support the workers and their efforts that bring me the joy i get from this game and others Blizz provides, 2-I dont support the misdeeds and misconduct of certain individuals or groups within the company as they do not represent everyone at the company, both of these can be true at the same time and I can still choose to spend my money with them because the good it brings outweighs the bad. Sure some guy owns a yacht. There’s always going to be a yacht guy in this world from nearly every big company. I wouldnt pick that lifestyle but I dont knock those that do. I do knock those that have multiple yachts. Thats just eccentric and beyond reasonable.
I bought it when it was released. I wasnt suggesting anyone was to buy it now. Tho they could if they wanted to. I mean I read somewhere on here someone is miffed about not getting diamond Loetheb. And if you spent countless hours in the game every week since launch, would it actually be so crazy to throw them $20 for all that time of entertainment they provided for free up front with no requirement you buy anything ever? Ive spent more for less entertainment before cough Xbox 360 cough.
I like the way you tell me to reign in my high horse as you go on an ignorant diatribe of assumptions. Starting with listing random games and telling me that those games must get special passes from me. I must be a hypocrite because you are one and thus project it on to others. I dont like most of those games and the one I do (Mario!) I hold Nintendo to the exact same standards or higher. Higher probably as I said because they also produce consoles which are hunks of plastic and toxic they do little to sustainably recycle.
You are dismissed. You like every other fanboy made ignorant assumptions and dodged hard facts on the table. Not a single one of you has wanted to address the hard fact that Blizzard is literally constantly under investigation and being targeted with regulations for shady business practices. But sure, im on a high horse because YOU think i play Mario and give it a free pass. I mean christ step back and look at that. Im pointing out entire governments are investigating this company and your response is to make ignorant assumptions about what games I play and my spending habits. Cognitive dissonance and projection at its finest folks. Double so when patting yourself on the back for “supporting the employees” at Blizzard. Again what a heap of cognitive dissonance to say im not supporting the company that takes 99% of the gains and abuses its employees, im supporting the employees who get almost none of my money and are treated like crap! Cognitive dissonance to justify immoral spending. At least I accept my spending on HS for what it is. I support a greedy company that treats its employees like crap when I spend money on this game. I accept that rather than try to pretend the company with CEOs swimming in millions of stock options is not getting my money, just those hard working 9-12ers (because blizzard works their people insane hours too we know, but you dont care!)
I didnt assume you played any of those titles. I only stated that you would conveniently forget that they were owned by big corporations while never once giving a f2p main title like the ones i listed as examples. Every company is under scrutiny because thats what capitalism tends to lead towards, minimizing costs, maximizing profits, increasing market share, increasing stock prices, maximized productivity, and of course that results in everything you took issue with.
None of that is relevant to the point of older sets ever going on sale in the store tho. That was the point of the thread, correct? As I stated before, if they hardly sell any of a set once it is rotated out in favor of the new set, what incentive do they have to lower the prices if their return on that price drop wouldnt be a substantial difference to their bottom line of incoming revenues? If it doesnt serve that singular goal then your question is answered. Its a company, they want to make money, cutting prices down would only be beneficial if those sets were somehow a limited supply and they wanted to get rid of them, which is how clearance items go on sale in the first place in the real world. Since they dont have to contend with those sort of issues, they dont have a reason to have “sales” on old content. Im sure they’ve probably had someone look into the data on who’s buying the older content and how much is being bought. Its probably why we got the Classic mode and classic packs. But Im betting the non classic expansions that arent in the current standard mode arent being gobbled up by any significant amounts.
I wasnt projecting anything, i was merely illustrating how i can have two minds about a thing, because, Im a human. We can do those complex things. So again, all the other stuff you brought up is irrelevant to the question you originally posed and is just seemingly held in aggression and contempt youve found a way to vent out, albeit a series of issues that has nothing to do with why they dont have old sets go on sale.
I think Ive explained pretty cogent and logical and sound arguments as to why the answer to your question is what I think it is. You dont have to accept it, but you should be more civil and get off that high and mightier than thou attitude you’ve adopted. Perhaps I shouldnt have said reign in your high horse, but i still think it, certainly. You’ve only rode it higher and horsier since.
Its okay if you disagree, but the reasons you give are unrelated and are just your feelings for the company and capitalism as a whole. But completely miss the mark as why you argue they should be on sale as opposed to how its worked thus far. A guy owning a yacht and treating his employees poorly makes a poor argument as to why the older sets should be on sale.
just ignore the guy. he label everyone who dont agree with him as ignorant fanboy. i truly believe the guy have mental issues at this point. everything he say is “hard proofs” but everything anyone else say is ignorant assumptions.
the guy is weird on another thread he was comparing blizzard and microsoft he mentioned how workers are treated ( off topic like on this thread of course ) and left out the bit about microsoft doing pretty much the same without bothering to mention the email chain at all
over 90 pages of sexual harassment or discrimination stories written by Microsoft workers and he thinks “thats fine”
hes HARD LEFT!!! everything is awful everyone is mean, everyone is greedy. and if you disagree with him you are gonna get insulted while he cry that people are too mean on this forum. just report the posts where he call people ignorants and stuff like that. then hes muted for 24h lol
