Don’t expect me to pay a single buck for this game anymore. All my friends left this game and never come back as it is getting worse. I want to continue and when I keep seeing the OP Demon Hunters 5 games in a row, I have to admit that this game is hopeless now.
Same. I don’t have fun unless I’m playing a T1 or T2 deck.
BOOM thank you, OP didn’t say he was new.
i’ll take my apology now please. thanks. next time mind yer own.
If it’s just every other game then things could be worse? That’s how I see it, anyway.
If you feel like it, you can tell me what legendaries you have and I can try to suggest decks. I’ve never paid money and just been grinding gold for packs and adventures since WotOG, and I think I’m doing okay…
Depends what rank you consider “competitive” to be. I’ve mainly stuck to Wild in ranked since I can use old cards that have long since rotated out. Here is the deck that I’ve had the most luck with:
2x (1) Grimscale Oracle
2x (1) Murloc Tidecaller
2x (1) Sludge Slurper
1x (1) Unite the Murlocs
2x (2) Bluegill Warrior
2x (2) Brrrloc
2x (2) Ice Fishing
2x (2) Murloc Tidehunter
2x (2) Primalfin Totem
2x (3) Coldlight Seer
2x (3) Murloc Warleader
2x (3) Primalfin Lookout
2x (4) Call in the Finishers
1x (4) Murloc Tastyfin
2x (5) Bloodlust
2x (7) Everyfin is Awesome

Thank me later…
Dude the game isn’t much fun when you’re paying either.
Lol. 20 characters needed.
Good comments and info but man hsreplay with a deck tracker is one of the best ways for a f2p to get a good deck and find out what decks they can make.
You can sort it by dust cost or decks within say 400 dust with the best win rate and find decks you didn’t even know you had. I know i found i had a secret mage, kingsbane rogue and zoolock and Dragon hunter from there i didn’t even know i had. And i climbed to rank 5 before.
If you want a cheap solid deck to last a while wild secret mages without aluneth are very cheap and very powerful. I had the deck like three years ago and it’s still very good and they tend to use very powerful commons. Little boring to play but powerful. It kinda plays the same every time and either burns the opponent into smithereens before they played anything or they recover and you either burn though.
I have another deck i keep secret that’s maybe only 2% lower but i took my own home brew variant to wild legend (14% higher win rate then the crapperoni 56% second best publicly available variant! It took 37 tweaks and experiments to get right from giants to dragons to loathneb and brann and zolas but i finally have my favorite copy yet.
And it won’t even be easily copyable as i have a jungle hemet to hide all my early game cards and kill the others in the mirror so they can maybe get 40% but they’ll never be able to copy 100% of my deck
Oh and f2p wild btw with 26k dust. My thoughts on wild have actually reversed. Imo people worry about constantly having to have every card for wild but Honestly the same cards that are good in wild tend to stay good for a couple years. A 10k deck that only lasts 3 months is expensive, a 3k deck that lasts for years is good. Don’t worry about needing 1000 of every card. Just spend like 80 dust crafting the good commons and 200 dust on the good rares.
You only need a good 30 cards for wild and wild burn mage without Aluneth are extremely cheap, still good, have been great the last three years and far from hating it blizzard continues to print secret support and can only make more secrets.
Wild demon hunter works too odd or not odd, which is kinda dumb imo. (No odd versions that are basically just standard dh maybe with a loathneb or inspire minions can reach r5 cheaply. Legend is mostly just odd demon hunter and cube/control/reno/discolocks, jade/ramp/toggwaggle druids, and handcall/totem/even shaman and burn mage. But theres still a ton of variety and home brews and combos to be discovered. Remember you don’t need every 1000 cards to play wild, only to know which 30 to craft or pick. I’ve actually gone up in dust playing wild since it’s like a heirloom steel razor. It’s a little bit more expensive at first, but you break even in a month and then save over the years. You don’t have to worry about collecting 500 expansions. Just craft the 40 dust good commons or a few packs to get the 5-10 legendary and you’re set!
I was free to play until Icecrown and playing without paying might be more fun because the meta decks only matter to you when you are playing against them. It’s more fun making your own deck then using someone else’s.
Sadly, many people have jobs or needed to visit family or hang out during this time. Only folks like me who actually work on the computer have time to play. Not their falut, Blizzard wants high participation rate man.
Unranked is where people still play their netdecks but want to get rid of ladder anxiety for a moment and just play for fun. I dont blame them, but you will find netdecks in unranked, 100%.
Of course, just takes time. You will want to play every daily quest. There are solo adventures etc. Every so often when they have a sale on cards I will throw some money at my screen. If you aren’t enjoying yourself with playing for free you won’t enjoy it.
It’s more fun I feel to not pay any money. This is because when resources are scarce that you make do with what you have, and then carefully craft those decks you can, while slowly acquiring More cards.
Buying the complete collection with thousands of dollars would spoil that for me. I played ultima 3 Long ago. I hacked it and made my players unkillable, it spoilt the fun for me, so I tend not to use cheat codes anymore. Being able to craft any power deck you want is a bit like that.
That’s just me though. I’m sure others will feel differently, and I can understand why too.
Theres no point to play unranked…you only miss a lot of card packs/cards this way.
Some player proved many times that they can reach Legend even with a super budget deck.
I always have about 7000 Gold before every expansion and I only do daily missions…so if you play regulary you can have even more. (With 7000 Gold always possible to build 1-2 meta decks btw)
And with 150 Gold you can endlesly farm packs at Arena…ofc if you always get 150 Gold back.
So yes its fun even without paying, you only have to be good.
What if someone just plays to have fun and doesn’t care much about rewards?
Is it fun to get all the collection by making a single big purchase?
Is it funnier to unlock few cards and really appreciate them?
Whats wrong with having fun and getting rewards at the same time?
I mean its a TCG, the main part of this game is to get new cards, build new decks and have fun with them.
I dont see how it should be helpful for beginners not getting new cards…I mean at this stage every pack and every card counts. (Blizzard did a great job with the new ranking system here btw)
And I dont think that people will have fun for a long time if they play with the same cards all the time bcs they limit themself by not getting new cards/packs.
It makes no difference if you play ranked or unranked, its the same game (And almost the same ammount of tryhard meta decks)…the only difference is that at unranked 10% of the time you’ll face autowin decks if people do theyr dailys (And a win without effort is also not fun in my oppinion).
Define “Fun”, as you understand it. Then I will do my best to answer your question.
Everyone can win matches without paying; but it takes time to complete your ideas.
