Intended? *(Title must be at least 15 characters)*

So when I use:

Legendary · Minion · Into the Emerald Dream · Battlecry: Discover a minion from your deck. Give it a Dark Gift.

-I discover a minion from deck. It gets the ‘Charge’ dark gift.
-Play it, and attack with it. It does NOT die on my turn
-The opponent kills it on the/their next turn.
-I then play:

Epic · Spell · The Lost City of Un

And it resurrects the minion that had the ‘Charge’ Dark Gift.
(I had only played a 1mana & 2mana thus far in the game. it resurrected both, not a case of another variant that didn’t have the Dark Gift)

Why does it not have the Dark Gift anymore? Is that intended?

-It’s not summon a copy of a minion that died without any of it’s Dark Gifts.
-It died with the gift. Shouldn’t it be resuscitated with the same Dark Gift it had when it died?

Firstly, “resurrect” is NOT a keyword (if it was, it would be written in bold). So, resurrect doesn’t have a definitive meaning. However, in many games, if you “resurrect” a character, they do not get any buffs they had when they died.

I guess it would be nice to get clarification on that, but to answer your question, I believe that minions are intended to be resurrected without any buffs (or debuffs). There are currently 11 cards in standard format that have “resurrect” in the text, and AFAIK, none of the resurrected minions ever get any buffs they had when they died.

Yes, it’s intended, any minion resurrected is done so with its base stats, unless specified otherwise, like amalgam

Ty.

It was just one of those things, that I had overlooked up until now. Now it had become a game changing difference, my expectation of the meaning of the word ‘resurrect’ compared to the implementation of it (mechanic) obviously differed. I have no significant ability or expertise in knowing or being able to determine if such a thing is an intended mechanic or bug/error in the intention. The only way for me to find out is to ask (and ideally get answers that don’t include things like ‘getgud’ or similar.

I figure it would help players if there was a video for every keyword and mechanic in Hearthstone that they could look up to tell them how a mechanic worked.

I thought about making some but not sure how I’d get it to the quality I want. Would be a lot of work.

This is intended functionality. If something does not explicitly say that it summons, resurrects, whatever with its enchantments, then by default it will just spawn a plain copy of the minion in question.
