Incorrectly banned for disconnecting

My boyfriend who knows very little about computers and recently started playing Hearthstone with me just got banned. The email said he was using a bot. My boyfriend can barely use the old iPad he was playing on! He has zero clue how to even install or setup a bot.

When we played he often kept getting disconnected and we figured it was because his iPad was so old. Reading through many posts across the internet it sounds like there is such a thing as a disconnect bot but I’m 1000% certain my bf’s iPad didn’t have one.

Yesterday I just got him a new 9th gen iPad so we could play together again. We set it up brand new and didn’t copy over the data from the old iPad. We installed Hearthstone fresh and I made him install battle.net with 2 factor authentication turned on in case someone had hacked his account the last time. We created him a brand new account so we could play together again.

We were able to play for a couple of hours but he got disconnected once. This is better than before where almost every game he got disconnected. What can we do to make sure this new account doesn’t get banned for the game getting disconnected?

Brother, it sounds like Blizzard done wronged your man. Accusing him of cheating when he’s barely got the hang of that tablet? That ain’t right.
Here’s the plan:

  • Write down everything: Every time he gets kicked off the game, write it down. Every message, every problem, write it all down. This is your proof.
  • Fight the ban: Tell Blizzard they made a mistake. Ask them to prove he was cheating. Make them listen.
  • Talk to Blizzard: Go straight to the top. Explain what happened, nice and clear. Tell them to fix it.
  • Tell everyone: Use the internet to spread the word. Let everyone know Blizzard messed up.
  • Play something else: If Blizzard won’t listen, forget 'em. There’s plenty of other games out there.
Don’t give up, brother. Keep fighting for what’s right. The truth will come out.

Whatever reason they had for banning your BF, and whether that reason was genuine or mistaken, it wasn’t due to disconnects.

as I always say do not trust blizzard, it will always tend to deceive you in some way, if you fear being subjected to injustice, report blizzard, if one day justice wins everyone will be left without a job including those who moderate this forum

I’m sorry this happened and now I wonder if I should stop playing before I too get banned. Reason being is that I usually play BG’s and for some reason the game frequently stops responding. I thought it was an opponent using a hack but also I just switched from being hard wired to wireless and the connection doesn’t seem to handle high data requests. I have a bad habit of having several windows open, streaming and playing Dragon City all at the same time. Anyway, my solution has been to X out and hit play to reconnect. I guess this is not a good idea.

I didn’t realize I can get banned for it. Thank you for sharing.

You probably should, but for another reason. :grinning:

I think it might be a delusion that people are getting banned like that for something.

What was that fable? About the lamb being guilty of… the wolf’s just being hungry, thus the lamb getting eaten?

Interesting statement. Care to elaborate?

Sure, why not. Something along these lines: I might have problems - #7 by SparkyElf-2852 etc.

It’s mostly about HS, not BGs, though, which I really don’t know well, so some of that reasoning might not be applicable… It’s within the same product, though, and ultimately, you decide what pertains to thee.

What does this have to do with me and why you are telling me I should quit playing?

Don’t bother. That person posts the most bizarre replies ever. They link to other texts of themselves without even explaining what they’re linking.

I was considering if their texts are automatically generated, but it’s probably just bad thinking.

Only you can answer that.

Because you asked, duh. :grinning:

Well for starters the link you posted was TLDR and if you can’t explain why you are telling players they should quit then it seems you might need to consider a well balanced died, proper hydration, exercise, friends and some fresh air.

I hope you feel great from this day forward.

And that’s my problem? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

If you can’t explain, say, Fredholm equations to a scarecrow, does that mean you’re a bad teacher?

Actually, unlike your post above, no one asked, explicitly or implicitly, for your feedback in this case.

My thanks to you.
