Ignite was a Good Design? Thoughts>?

Now that Ignite has been gone for a long time, do you think it was a good design?

Epic · Spell · United in Stormwind · Deal damage. Shuffle an Ignite into your deck that deals one more damage.

I ran into it in Twist and I think it’s a card that should be in the Core Set.

I remember a lot of people complained about it for a while when it was in Rotation though.

Yay or Nay? and Reasons?

No, it’s not good design to have anything be infinite.

Conversely, yes, it is good design for things to go infinite.

No, it’s not. Design like this are exactly why HS is going downhill.

Opinion, not fact…

No…just look at how the E-sports scene has dwindled.

HS is dying because of terrible design decisions, the same ones you think are good for whatever reason.

The esport scene dwindled because Blizzard killed, completely, the prize pools for it this year. The prize pool is completely pathetic, if they intend the game to be an esport.

No, it’s not good to never run out of resources because of 1 card. Ignite was never a good card but still don’t want it back in standard.

HS was always a joke as an e-sport to be fair. You can’t have so much RNG in the game and say that HS is a game of skill. Remember Paveling book?

You clearly werent around for the 2015 season if you believe that. Ostkaka FTW, NO RNG involved!

Why pinpoint a certain year? I’ve seen enough to know HS is not a real e-sport.

To disprove your claim.

It was until recently when Blizzard removed the rewards for even trying to place “at Blizzcon”.

Blizzard killed the esport factor, not RNG!

You don’t disprove anything if you pinpoint, you just tell me I’m right. Anyway the year you mentioned the game had a lot less RNG. HS e-sports started to decline 3-4 years ago (more or less) when too much discover BS was introduced in the game.

And why did they remove the rewards in the first place? Because not enough people were watching.

No, YOU ARE WRONG! That is my stance.

Because it was no longer profitable. There was a very big esports following until they went to youtube streaming as their medium. They completely killed it last year by removing the fiscal incentive to actually be competitive.

Yes, pros actually expect to get, you know, PAID!

And why it was no longer profitable? They didn’t go youtube because they would get less money, so don’t mention that.

I dont have the numbers anymore than you do, but I am VERY confident in my claim that they didnt gain as much revenue that they would have if they had stayed on Twitch.

Youtube was, at that time, simply not up to par for live streaming. Not even close.

The ever increasing damage was terrifying.

I don’t think that Ignite is bad design so much as incompatible design. By which I mean, it was released at a time when Mage combo decks were drawing themselves to what would otherwise be fatigue before they had reached ten mana crystals. Therefore, it didn’t function as a quirky unpredictable offense, but as a guaranteed offense AND a defense against one’s own excesses in the form of fatigue damage prevention.

Whether it should be made Core or not would depend upon whether we can expect Blizzard to keep its collective foot off the gas pedal as far as card draw is concerned. Frankly, I don’t see that happening. I foresee Mage once again drawing their entire decks in the near future.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

If you mean advertiser revenue then of course you’re right.

But if you mean advertiser revenue plus whatever YouTube paid them for exclusivity, then probably not. YouTube was under the delusion that they could compete with Twitch on the eSports front if they just threw their financial weight around. It was they who lost big on the deal, not ActiBlizz.

No, it was a very weird card. Like forgotten torch is better designed in almost every way.

When it was played straight-up, I thought it was fine.

But it tilted me extremely hard when it got cast by Rune of the Archmage or Thief Rogue. Congrats, now I have to deal with your original plan and ALSO the fact that you are immune to fatigue and put me on a clock…
