Bonus question: would you recommend others to try for Legend rank?
If they offer a new card back I would.
I would like to encourage people to get it, atleast once. I always ask Bowser but he has turned me down multiple times lol. I really like to see my friends hit it.
I’ve been able to cheer you on Reaver, Schyla, an Haunter187. While other posters on my list have achieved Legend before such as the players Teo, ThinIce, an Lykotic.
Seeing as the ranked rewards have been reworked so its no longer utter garbage, sure. There was hardly much of an incentive before.
Probably. So you get 3 card packs, 7 rares and 1 epic I believe which isn’t too bad. I’ll prob go legend before Ashes of Outlands hits because I’m gonna need to spend gold/dust on new cards later on.
Legend only offers you 1 extra pack over diamond and a legendary the first time achieved.
I would hardly call that an incentive.
1 pack is 1 pack …
If you stick with it for a year you will have 12 packs.
That’s like half a legendary I guess.
The grind just sounds so boring honestly like running the same 3 things over and over. You can’t escape that sadly, but hey if that is what people like go for it.
I would prefer to hammer 9" nails through my eyelids (not the body part I want to post, but gotta keep it pg-13) than attempt the climb to legend. 2015 Bowser would have tried (and probably have gotten there, eventually)… But 2020 Bowser would find it such a miserable experience that he has no interest in attempting it.
Note: I am not saying I would hit legend, and its a “time is holding me back thing”, far from it. I think that those who have seen the decks I take on ladder would agree that IF I was interested in the “grind”, I would be hitting R5 pretty consistently at minimum.
For what its worth, your games tend to fill legendary to spectate. Will this trihard Mech Hunter be able to smack Bowser in the face for lethal with his Mayor Noggenfogger on board?!
If he does, I announce to Bowser how the game is rigged. If he doesn’t, I laugh an tell Bowser how he destroyed that clown.
Legend really isn’t that difficult when you consider playing at like rank 7+ start of season. Yeah sure you lose star bonuses at 5, but the first time around I hit Legend two weeks into the month.
I did hit Rank 1 5 stars a few months back, before choking it and going back down. That didn’t take much time either, again around 2 weeks.
It’s definitely faster with an aggro deck, but it doesn’t require someone to play 3-4 hours a day. Just takes somewhat with a deck powerspike and a slight bit of luck against the meta.
I only shoot for Legend if I hit Rank 2 or higher. I typically see Rank 5-3 each month, but it’s when I get to 2 that I notice a spike in my deck’s power that let’s me climb even further than before.
I don’t play enough to reach legend but I play enough to reach between 12-8 (where I’m at now and my highest rank achieved)
I am interested in the new ladder system since all I play is ladder because of all the complaints I’ve seen about “metadecks in casual.”
I’m obviously “farming for gold” or “ruining it for casual players.”
I’ve recently learned that if enough negativity in what I am doing (whether they’re right or wrong) it makes me not want to do that anymore.
Should I be able to blow off steam in casual? Absolutely.
Do I use decks from the internet? Yes.
Do I play them in casual? I did, especially if I was learning how to pilot an unfamiliar class but not anymore.
Nowadays, in order to log in, I have to have the mindset of “I’m here to win.”
It’s not a game I can play just for fun. I can’t hang out in wild casual because I’m “ruining the experience” for everyone else with my “degenerate decks.”
Too much salt, too much try hard, and too much focus on winning, then I end up quitting for a month or two, read about the next xpac, and now I’m behind because I uninstalled.
Recognizing this behavior in myself, I only log in when I need to complete quests (usually in ranked, depending on the quest) and when I have a solid block of time to actually climb.
I strictly play Wild because I like the variety, seeing other combos I’d never considered before and not having to worry about being referred to as a “degenerate” or being worried about playing “that broken deck.”
On the one hand, other players shouldn’t dictate my fun.
On the other hand, I genuinely care about the community and I know I shouldn’t worry but I really do want to be a respectable member of the community - I want everyone to have fun.
Even if that sentiment doesn’t apply to me.
Too much thinking about some group of “random strangers” thinkings ![]()
Look at some other “random strangers” that hold their own in the mist of craziness.
Back to topic:
My legend attempts were not enjoyable but very enriching in terms of things such as perseverance, patience, etc, etc.
With the new ladder, I do not foresee much changes that will propel me to try again. But, the gameplay experience is the key factor. If meaningful decisions takes less and less importance, then the ladder experience remain as before.
I might. This corona stuff might push me doing it.
You should try! I’ll cheer you on from the forums lol.
I tried, I did reach it. not a big fan of it. Once is enough. Need a huge boredom for me to do it again. Which is maybe now, since Im also bored with any other games.
nah, i’m not that good and even so it would take me too long to rank back down again. i’m gonna hang back so i can play what i want and have jank wars. competitive hearthstone…well CCGs in general i find tedious, exhausting, and boring.
Looks around in Rank 18 Yep…Legend…definitely…
Maybe I would try to build the most attrocious full control fatigue deck to farm the tide of aggro. Other than that, I do not feel any urge to grind.
No
20 charactersssss
I still remember the time when I was R18 too…
Legend seems a target too far…
Guess the surprise when I managed to break my barriers…
