If situations allows, would you try for Legend rank in the new ladder system?

I’m mostly a wild player. For the last year I’m hitting lvl 5 every month. Never gathered the courage to climb further up the ladder.

Until last week. Last weekend I played Galakrond warrior from rank 8, up to rank 3 + 3 stars. I would like the make the push, but Blizzard has unnerfed Raza priest. I’m scared now  Raza priest eats my deck for breakfast.

So I’m thinking. Not this month RealitBoy. Maybe april. Someday I’ll get there…

it doesn’t change much for me, i’ll keep reaching it regularly since it doesn’t take that long (+4 more weeks of containment so…)

If they offer a new Legend cardback then I’m definitely going to have a crack at getting to Legend again, I might even do it anyway, since I’m stuck at home with no work (live sound engineer!) for the duration of this Covid-19 emergency.

C’mon Blizzard, it’s time for a new Legend cardback, the old one looks pretty lame compared to others and it would be a great incentive for many many players I suspect.

Probably not. I am just playing for fun.

I always get to the rank 12 mark and then it gets incredibly grindy at that point. I’m not sure what rewards they would have to offer before I spend potential hours on each rank. (Hit rank 12, then fall back to 16…)

So, if I’m reading this topic right, if I try for Legend then I get to be Theman’s friend.

I’m in!

Bit late to the party, but I probably will. It feels like there’s more of an incentive to reach Legend now than there was before and I’d want to do it at least once for the one-time rewards anyways.

I’ve made my decision and no, I will not be making it to legend.

Wild Secret Mage is too much and there is too little tech to even consistently counter it.

When a Mage can AFK for the first three turns and take the win, there is a problem.

Of course, it will probably 20 years before Blizzard does anything about it, similar to Barnes.

It’s a very helpless deck to try and beat because you can’t cast spells (counterspell.) Can’t clear anything because Duplicate. And you’re forced to sit there and take constant damage from Medivhs Valet and Flakmage.

I start seeing too many Wild Secret Mages and it sucks the wind out of my sails.

I played two matches today and after that Secret Mage, I realized I hate that helpless feeling. I like matches where I can look back and go, “Oh, I see where I lost.”

When it comes to Secret Mage, I am literally punished for playing cards and I am literally punished for not playing cards because of all the burn they have with Secret synergy.

I don’t have a problem with Mage having secrets: it’s all the extra burn they get from the minions when they have secrets in play.

I hope I was able to articulate this well enough.

Just play Reno. You know you want to :smiling_imp:

Reno is badly exposed to Bad Luck Albatross, that’s the main issue.

i’m already aiming for legend, so if next month happens to be easier thanks to the stars multipliers and 10 less stars to get to it, well then yes, imma try

I want to try to get to Silver 5 each season, for the 1 pack and 4 total Rares (basically 80 dust)… However, depending on how this new MMR match-up system works (and if it feels more “doable” in terms of my competition), I might try to get to Gold 10, so I can get 2 packs. This would help me a lot, since I’m (mostly) F2P.

I’m getting legend usually every month so a slight increase in monthly reward is somewhat appreciated. The April climb will probably help me to get the new demon hunter cards with the first time reward.

I just hope that it doesn’t take much longer to climb with the new ranks because just the climb alone already takes me a couple of weeks on average.

If I were to play any Reno deck, it would most likely be Hunter or Warlock. I have the cubes, and DK Guldan for cubelock. I could craft the weapon and the demons I’m missing (Voidlords?) The one’s that summon 3 1/3 taunts.

For extra, I could slot in N’zoth.

For Renolock, it’s expensive and I never did open Zephyrs.

The only other Reno deck I’d play is probably Reno Hunter but I never did open the cards for that one either.

I’ve been playing Res priest a bit. I’m not married to particular type (combo, control, midrange, aggro etc) because I like to play all type.

While Hunter is my favorite class, the most appealing decks are Dragon and Highlander Hunter as far as that goes.

If I had to pick a favorite, midrange would probably be my favorite. Even lock, Even Shaman, Midrange Hunter, Midrange Paladin way back when.

There doesn’t seem to be any room for it now because there is so much board control and burn. Even Shaman is probably my best bet for that midrange itch.

Aggro, I lean on Odd Paladin a lot.

I really enjoy Dragon Priest as well.

I’ll do it again for the one time rewards for sure.

I’ll vouch for Zephrys, if you’re considering the craft. I was initially going to give up on Reno decks until he popped out on me; he’s one of those cards that’s hard to evaluate unless you’ve used him. He also takes a bit of practice - you have to think ‘okay, what classic card saves me here?’ and steer him towards that result. That being said, he WILL save you time and again.

Nice to see your Evens Shaman is still working out. It’s always been one of my go-to decks, but it’s been working particularly well recently, at least for me.

Dragon Priest I’ve tried to make work, but those dang aggro Paladins are always a step faster. I can have a perfect curve opening, but unless I’m packing Silence or SW:D, I’ve got no way to deal with a turn 3 taunt/divine shield/rush with 10 health. Couldn’t get higher than 50% winrate at the rank 5 level.

I don’t run into a whole lot of Odd Paladins nowadays, but when I do, it always seems to work out. How’re you faring with it, what with all the Reno Mages and Mech Paladins out there?

I made it from 18 to 12 with Odd Paladin and stopped after getting crushed by Mages. And haven’t played much since.

Zephyr’s is stupid broken and I’ve lost to it so. many. times.

Especially when they manage to Zola/Copy/Bounce it back. It’s highly frustrating.

I despise Reno decks because it sucks losing to Reno Jackson. It just does and the fact they made it even more broken?

If you can’t beat them, join them, I guess?

With my new hours coming up soon, I’ll have a lot more spare time to play games so I’m looking at Gwent - I hear it’s a good one.

Hearthstone, I can play until I start losing to decks that I can do nothing about. There isn’t any playing around Reno Jackson - Geist either pulls Jackson or bust.

Mage has so much burn with their secret synergy that you’re punished no matter what you do - just looking for new toys to play with to basically justify why I keep playing this game.

I’ve quit and come back a few times - my only hope is they do something about Wild Mage and stop printing Highlander support.

Decks are expensive AF and Idh half the dust needed to even try to pilot such a deck.

As for Secret Mage, I just need Luna and Aluneth.

Hopefully, this new xpac will bring them both down a few notches.

If not, I guess I’m playing decks I despise to justify my time in this game.

Other than those two things, I’m overall happy with the game.

I’m betting you got there using a homebrew deck too…

But to answer your question the last time I tried ranking up was non-stop rez priest, every 2nd or 3rd game. And if you tech against it, you either don’t draw the card you need, or it ends up being useless (*cough Zuldrak ritualist) or more likely you just face a different hard counter.

The ladder is like the ol’ Hegelian dialectic. Aggro vs control. I’d say pick your poison, but it doesn’t matter.

Probably DH looks busted OP and fast. Could get my new ladder system first time rewards out of the way and then back to eternal bronze because ladder sucks.

Ideally, if you play Rank then you should aim for Legend EVERY SINGLE SEASON. Otherwise, what’s the point of playing the mode?

For HS real players, like me, having a season not reaching legend would leave them a big whole in their heart. The feeling is worse that getting fired from your job or having your dog getting hit by a car. Trust me, I felt that a lot.
