Idea for future mechanic?

Thinking about the problem with OTK exploit decks, I wonder if the following mechanic might be useful:

At the end of a turn, a player can choose to make their character more resistant to one form of damage, while less resistant to another. For example, we have magic and physical damage currently - if they choose a magic shield, it would half the damage they take in the following turn from magic, but take double damage from physical. Obviously they could choose a physical shield for the opposite effect.

This would counter gimmick decks that play very weak minions that are only included for card draw, or to enable the OTK counter - the opponent would simply use the magic shield when the OTK is likely to happen.

Interesting idea! I like that it requires you to understand your opponent’s deck and play it at the right time.

It kind of reminds me of the kobold monk card which disallows your hero from being targeted by spells and hero powers.

This would be too easy to exploit. Clear their board then become 50% resist to spells or leave the board and becomes 50% resist to physical. Odd warrior would become near unkillable with this system. You would help many otk decks in general with this change. Mechathun doesnt care about how you resist. Infinite fireballs dont care either. Toggwaggle druid as well.

Sorry, what’s your point? You’re arguing that it’s too easy to exploit, and also that it’s pointless? Pick a side, dude…

Example.

Odd pally full board 2 righteous, 4 1/1 recruit, 1/4 stonehill for 7 minions.

Odd warrior picks physical resist for half damage to board lolz and armor up

7/2 is 3 dmg a turn. Odd pally has 0 dmg spells. Odd pally cant pkay minions now So Warrior is now unkillable making this system easy to exploit and pointless

Get it now?
