I miss trading and positioning, among other things

Seems to me, every deck now is what I call an: “inevitability” deck.
After a certain point, the opponent loses.
Trades rarely matter. Positioning almost never matters.
Mana management seldom matters either.
You just draw until you have the pieces, and if you haven’t lost at that point?
Then you win, and nothing can be done to stop that.
Agree or Disagree?
I feel like the game is far less dimensional than it was when it was conceived.

I remember such times fondly

As do I. The game is just a one-note draw contest now.

It’d be nice if Arena, the one time home of minion on minion combat, wasn’t overrun by overpowered, bot-fueled barcode decks.

I miss it too. Not that I have ANY interest in such things for Ranked purposes.

why not just add each other as friends, and just play those kinds of decks?

Because it’s impossible to hit legend by playing friends.

Sure, you gonna give me the rewards/in game currency I lose by doing so?

No.

Stop spamming this. Its not gonna happen. Unlike you, I actually tried to encourage something like this out of my own pocket - the Commoner’s Cup (anyone remember that???)

You have done nothing other than say lose ingame currency. Why would anyone do that?!?

Put your money where your mouth is and actually encourage it, instead of spamming your BS!

ranking is pointless

fun is all that matters

Fun is subjective. Thats an irrefutable fact.

Stop your nonsense spamming.

True

If I can’t make top 100 Legend at least one month a year, how will people on this forum respect my pontifications? I’m trying to have fun HERE too y’know

You didn’t contradict what Cheezus said

That’s right because there is no balance! This replaced RND, creators don’t have to worry about millions of possible combinations, they simply create new and new cards without thinking, completely without the concept of easy made. This way the game can be “expanded” indefinitely with minimal effort…
Combined with matchmaking according to your deck (hello hidden rank) = no balancing easy RND

Everyone talking circles around each other not actually disagreeing with the big points being made,

except for this

How would one lose in game currency by adding a person as a friend? or by challenging each other to a friend match? You cannot as you dont spend anything to do either. I dont think anyone is “spamming any BS” nor do I think anyone would lose any rewards or in game currency by having a friend added to their list and playing them with whatever kind of deck you wanted to.

None of this argument seems to have anything to do with what the others here are pining for.

I think what was meant is that playing a friend does not gain you any rewards.
It’s time spent in game for no reward at all.

If only they would just implement an actual Custom Hearthstone game mode that still gives rewards but reduced (so that we don’t get a repeat of when Classic was introduced…also Custom Hearthstone could just include Ranked Classic as a default mode). I get that they don’t want to do it because it doesn’t make them much money, but tbh it is good business sense to have happy customers who enjoy your product even if you don’t see a literal cent from them (because don’t worry the money will come sooner or later if people actually enjoy and support what you’re doing, shocker I know). I mean idk maybe I should be the game director?

I think they need to implement a new design team. This one is done.

Been saying all of this for years. There is little board interaction. It’s all solitaire. 80% of game outcomes are determined by pure luck. And that is completely on the devs and their choices. It’s a mystery to me that they still have jobs while other good developers are losing theirs at other studios

Said before n will say again, there will be a unique mode for each individual player if they added that. No 2 players will agree 100% on what cards are okay or not to use

I highly doubt that. Players are great at finding the most fun common ground, especially if the system is actually designed well.

Doesn’t have to be even barcode at this point. I drafted a deck just a few days ago that i went 12-0 without ever feeling like i was in trouble in a game. I had to run over 7 barcode decks to do it but even they couldn’t stop me. They NEED to go back to the bucket system to make it more interesting.
