Hunter weapon needs nerf!

6 dmg, 2 times dredge and possible 6 mana discount! Isnt it 2 much?

if it did 4 dmg, would that be ok?

maybe. or 2 mana discount. Or just 1 time dredge.

so if it was a battlecry dredge and then just a 3/2 weapon that would be ok?

This weapon is paramount to the deck’s success. It cannot be touched in any reasonable way that wouldn’t kill it. Maybe, reduce its attack by 1 making it a 2/2. I can’t think of any other option that wouldn’t essentially kill it.

It’s a card game. The Harpoon Gun is what produces the frequent Beast Hunter highroll moments. Platitudes aside, the weapon is extremely important to the deck. Unless anyone can suggest compensational buffs to other cards to better support the deck with a nerfed Harpoon. Rather, all we see here is “Kill X, Y, and Z”.

I can have for my burgle rogue a 3/2 weapon for 3 manas and “When you attack discover a card from another class, that cost 3 less”.

Shaman can have the same as hunters but for murlocks?

If other classes can’t have a tool insanely overpowered and disgunsting undercosted why hunter can?

I recommend that you browse various classes, and their mulligan and drawn winrates on their better cards. You will find that Harpoon Gun is not so much an outlier as you seem to think. Each deck has very high performing cards, oftentimes making the deck cohesive.

Do not get me wrong. I believe the aim should be that all decks have an overall winrate of as close to 50% as possible. This is, obviously, unattainable, for many reasons, one of which are the various complexities involved. What I worry about with this specific Harpoon Gun nerf suggestion, is that it’d very possibly kill the deck. Beast Hunter has finally the opportunity to shine (and note: this may only last for a few more days (Nathria Aug. 2nd)). Go with the flow, and watch it fall off rather rapidly in the coming weeks. Then, rejoice.

It’s too late to reasonably expect a crusade against the card to result in any changes being made.

You forgot that rogue has an insane pirate weapon in standard, while shaman had the gnoll hammer

Say what you will, young grasshopper. Whack-A-Gnoll Hammer was a powerful weapon.

Rare · Weapon · Madness at the Darkmoon Faire · After your hero attacks, give a random friendly minion +1/+1.

And NEVER forget Doomhammer.

Epic · Weapon · undefined · Windfury, Overload: (2)

i could see it going to a 2/2 at the most

Can we blame the masses? The class is perpetually tier one, sometimes as low as tier two (Oh. My. Lord!). It obliterates most decks, and is usually cheap. It’s public enemy number one, and yet, many players seemingly are oblivious to this fact, instead blaming cards that are neither here nor there.

Just revert it to its original form… the problem is it curves into Mountain Bear and Hydralodons.

Garbage tier when compared with the hunter one, if give the minion +3/+3 maybe will be on pair for discount 3 manas in the cost.

If hunter weapon cost 5 manas too then will have no problem.

Let’s change our direction a little. What data are you basing your premise (that the weapon is overpowered) on?

Give me just one moment and I’ll post the D4 - D1 mulligan and drawn winrates below.

Now, if you look at other high-performance decks, you will notice similar trends. There are many mediocre and plainly weak cards, but some are game changing and are relied on significantly for many matches that these players win. Harpoon Gun is not an outlier in this regard. We shouldn’t go ahead and nerf every card that performs exceptionally well because, well, you don’t like it.

Edit: It’s also very much worth noting that this card wiffs a lot. I cannot tell you how many times, over the course of using two Harpoon Guns, that I did not dredge nor discount a single beast. What this means is, there are no guarantees and RNG has to be on your side.

thats a simple nerf too!

6 manas discount without any stats penaulty in a 3 manas card, with the only exception of the final reward from old quest warrior it is the most powerful weapon of all time in this game, nothing else comes close to compare.

Of course, a deck is not build with only one or two cards, the rest of the deck don’t are so insanely overpowered like the weapon and this affect those numbers but when we compare individual cards of the same type this weapon for hunter put everything else in garbage tier, nothing a single one of normal weapons comes close.

The pirate weapon for warrior draw the pirate but don’t get the massive tempo of playing a 7 manas game winning minion in turn 4 and is legendary, you can’t put x2 in the deck.

Let’s be honest. The maximum discount is 6, but that actually ranges from 0-6. There are no guarantees that you will dredge a beast, let alone one you need at the time.

The weapon itself does not win games, akin to how every effect often has more than one cause. However, this is not to deny it is powerful if RNG is on the side of its user. However, there’s no guarantee to draw it, there’s no guarantee to dredge what you need, and if you draw it late into the game, it’s worthless.
