How to get started?

So I wouldn’t mind playing but from what i have seen you really have to spend a bit of cash to get into it and be viable as a player. any suggestions that don’t involve my wallet?

just play arena . best method for f2p ppl

I cant agree that arena is good for newbs, they arent familiar with the cards yet. I’d recommend grabbing at least the current and previous few expansions and plowing through the single player experience, you’ll gain handful of legendaries and a decent deck pick.

Avoid wild and play standard for fun to begin with, familiarize yourself with plays so you know what to expect and when. Find your most successful deck and keep playing it, dont spread yourself out over all classes, stick with 2 max. Do your quests ( theres also secret quests, google that) for coin and save it for the random packs, later use them for expansions, AVOID wasting coin on arena.

Doing arena is not wasting “coin” as he puts it. Once you understand the arena enviroment you can get more value out of it than buying raw packs in the shop. 3 or 4 wins is all you need to go even and make back what you spent. You’re not gonna get 12 wins anytime soon but building an agressive deck with a low mana curve is almost guarenteed to win at least 5 games before the more refined decks blow you out of the game.

If you’re casual that playing arena is way more fun than being curb stomped by a meta deck.

YES you are totally right!
Since the introduction of the latest expansion Iv been investing my gold/quests
into nothing but arena and guess what.
Im sitting on 80 pack (I have also played tavren brawls) Im really satasfied with my progress for not looking at my wallet and thinking should I buy some packs or not…

There are so many tips on how to play or forge arena decks we all just need to do our research.

that bad idea for a number of reasons
1.news will use it as way attacking gaming by call it gabling (because arena is pure luck based so it basically is Gabling)
2.odds of doing well in Arena is super super low meaning could spend 150 gold to get a random pack and small amount of dust
3.you could spend 100 gold get a pack you would what to use in first place
4.solo adventures got a payout a fairly good one so they might be a better choose
5.if you invested in wild packs you could get jump started in Wild meta that so chaotic no one deck truly rules for to long and all decks basically Useful because there no king deck for multiple Expations (example I won 6 games in a row with Shadow priest a out dated deck)

Dalaran Heist and Tombs of Terror are fun, and you get card packs for reaching a certain point on each chapter. If you still like solo adventures at that point, go for Galakrond’s Awakening since it’ll have some cards that’ll look good if you’re just starting out. Do the quests. Get a win a week in tavern brawl for a free pack.

You get a free deck if you level up to a certain point I believe. Look up the free deck options ahead of time. Some of them are pretty good

Other than that + some free packs beginners get you’d have to do things like tavern brawls if you had no cards

Edit: don’t do arena as a beginner. You’ll waste gold. Farm gold via quests and spend it on packs, not arena tickets

Yeah gotta agree, Arena is terrible and frustrating as a beginner as you need to KNOW the cards well and what value they hold and then you also have to research the “most efficient” card picks for current meta. And even after that, you have to be good at building a deck to curve or you will lose fast.

playing for 6 years only spent 30$ on it till now
i kept gathering dust and cards and finally got to legend

How long would it take to play through the old content? Just a rough guess.

Depends on what you mean by old content. If you mean single player content, just add up how long it would take you to farm the gold via daily quests to unlock each adventure. Then depending on the adventure you unlock, some have a TON of replay value (the dungeon runs) as once you beat normal mode there is a heroic mode and the HM usually gives a card back or something as a reward for beating it. Then some of the hard-modes have anomaly mode which adds a random buff to you and the opponent that can mix things up.
Non-dungeon run content wont take long to clear and really doesn’t have a ton of replay value so you normally just do that for the card pack unlocks.

The way to get started is to quit, cuz that’s the ultimate destination of this game. The best Hearthstone experience is none at all. Actually, I would suggest getting on the forums and participating in the topic that it’s rigged. You’ll be MILES ahead of everyone. And it’s definitely a good use of your time. That’s what I do.

If your goin all the way back theres tonnes of sp content to get you moving through, I find the earlier ones are the more difficult but fun, then theres always heroic mode which I’m still plowing thru

I agree that arena is bad advice for starting players. It’s mainly good for experienced players so they can farm you.

I’ve been playing HS for several years and I get to lvl5/ d5 with ease for years. Arena on the other hand, I still suck at it. Only play it when I get free tickets and getting 5 wins is an accomplice ent for me.

I would suggest you follow the advice that is non arena related. It worked for me just fine in those starting months.
