How much have u spent on HS this year? And did it make you into a better player?

I’ve spent 70$ for the mythic skin, and it did nothing to boost my rank, still getting turn 5 otked. I guess the other players spent more than me?

I have never spent money on a skin and I’ve only spent money on the monthly pass since March of the Lich King, my skill has gotten me to legend both last month and this month

Who did you lose this time, and you “must have won”, because you can’t possibly lose and be fair?

I buy the accelerated rewards tracks because they cost the same as the mini set and provide an exp boost that provides more gold than the mini set costs over the expansion.

So I just end up with extras.

Say what?

That’s impossible.

You must have bought the wrong skins

Zero, have enough dust and neutral packs saved to probably be fine for one more expansion before having to dust old cards again.

Did it help me? I don’t think spending ever helped me. Playing slightly off-meta decks is usually the best way to climb. If the algorithm can’t tell what type of deck you’re playing, it will have a harder time pairing a counter against you.

Define “better.”

I certainly was able to craft the decks I wanted, which let me play what I wanted immediately. In that sense, the spending did help me have more fun faster.

Lost a bet here on Forums and spent twenty bucks this year.
Hasn’t done a thing for me that I can tell.

To be fair, I technically haven’t spent money this year because I usually make my purchases with Amazon Coins (which I bought last year) but I have bought 2 regular bundles and Tavern passes, Marin the Fox and AFK bundles as well as some other $6.99 skins.

Does that affect rank? At best you might get a winstreak after buying a bundle or something, but not long term. I barely get Diamond 5 these days in 1 mode because I don’t play that much (been playing other games).

You gotta spend $300 more. You didn’t even hit the first tier.

I am F2P because I don’t know what to buy, honestly.

Rewards track?
Mini set?

The only skins I really want are the ranked rewards. And I like collecting the ones from the events.

I have a hard time focusing my attention because there’s too much advice out there that just doesn’t work for me.

I am not a collector.
I do not play wild.

So for me, I don’t mind dusting unused cards to craft a meta deck or two. Because I enjoy ladder. Really, that is the only mode I enjoy.

Spending on bundles/packs would get me more dust but it’s much easier for me to have one or two decks at a time. I’m beginning to swap cards to suit my playstyle.

For example, with Breakfast Hunter, I swapped one Snake Oil Salesman for a Camouflage Mount and I swapped Bird Call for Floppy Hydra with really good results.

If I have too many decks, too many options, I won’t play with one to really learn the ins and outs of the deck. I managed to make it to Plat 10 and took a small break to play Ashes solo content.

So for me, less is more. Maybe later, that will change but for right now, I am satisfied.

Well clearly, not spending enough is why I can’t beat a charge deck with auto buffs that kills you on turn 3/4

A couple battle passes. A pittance comparatively.

This isn’t how the matchmaking works.

Why do you think the “algorithm” wants you to lose?

I don’t, I think the algorithm wants to force 50% win-rate.

This is what every MMR system in every single game attempts to do.

All you have to do is match players against players of equivalent skill and they will slowly progress to 50% win rate.

There’s no secret program needed. Use MMR. Get results. Literally nothing else is needed, no secret programming, nothing.

In a mostly skill-based game, yes. But much of this game is decided first by what deck your specific deck is playing against, then how well each person draws or discovers, and finally skill. Which is why I believe there is more to it than just comparing an MMR rating.

You can regard it how you want, but there are certain decks I will never see until I switch what deck I am playing. It’s happened a little too often, a little too consistently in the 10 years I’ve been playing. And we’ll never truly know unless they release everything about their system.
