How many Players reach Legend in Hearthstone?

Ok just got this link on discord and its an interesting read.
Theres a huge increase in Legend player numbers, far more than i expected.

Interesting read, though honestly I expected a HIGHER increase because as time goes on, a lot of relevant factors that influence win rates ALSO increase:

 • Gameplay Knowledge

 • In-game Crafting Resources

 • Data Aggregation

I’m sure there are others. Point being, it’s always going to trend up unless the overall pie size shrinks, or something in the core gameplay loop changes, or the resources get sunk.

It’s all actually based on if you are willing to play the meta you are forced to. Basically be a robot for the faux competition.

To make Legend? You can climb to legend with pretty much anything you want. You just need to understand the deck you are playing and play it optimally.

Its not exactly hard to craft a deck to reach legend in 2024.

A few dollars and you can do it in less then an hour.

I’ve done it in both formats multiple times.
If I can, it can’t be that hard:)

Bummer that it doesn’t have the % of active players that reach Legend.

Scr0tie thinks it’s 30% of players and I believe it’s much lower, around 2-5% of players.

Is that info in there buried somewhere and I missed it?

Did not see it, but there methodology, would not work for non-legend.
Soda
Principle: Keep queue-surrender in legend, and when don’t get lower rank you lowest.
this game has been diluted to the point that a 5 year old’s cat, swapping randomly at an ipad could reach legend given enough time.

legend, even top10 legend shouldn’t be seen as anything remotely resembling skill.

I think it mostly depends on how “active players” is defined. Clearly not “all” players, some aren’t active enough.

If it’s so easy, go make top 10 Legend then report back.

(Pretty much agree regarding Legend generally, but top 10 not easy)

i agree w this but its such a timesink for most people i wonder how it happens at all, it feels like a crazy grind

It happens when you learn how to play better than others

It’s only a crazy grind the first time you make it

i mean sure but even statistically its gotta be a lot of games and a lot of time, i mean even if you did nothing but win its still quite a long time right

First time, yes, it gets faster other times because you start with 10-star bonus (legend finish last month) or 11-star bonus (top 10% finish last month)

It’s possible to run to legend in 2-3 hours xD although not likely

Especially with all the coin rogues out there now and days, the 2-3 hour thing might be out the door this month and cutlass rogues

They didn’t say it was easy, they said it doesn’t take skill.

Though this is true of most things and you’d have to be a special kind of rock-brain to play the number of games required to reach legend and not increase your skill above average.

This is more of a Summer game than others, because it has no team play for the most part. Teams often disband in summers because half their members go on vacation left and right.

But it does

I consistently lose to top 50 players, only won like 1 in 20 games against them xD

They might as well be playing a different game than I

I can’t really imagine someone just highrolling to top 10 ranks, it doesn’t happen, unless you’re top 20-50 material to begin with
