Just wondering for those who have this as the ONLY game they have time to play…
Doesn’t it get really boring/awful to compete against the same decks from the same classes virtually for months at a time?

Welcome to constructed. That is literally what CCG are if you play constructed formats. Sounds like you either don’t like CCGs, don’t like constructed or both.
Since I see only the same 3-4 decks too in low Legend… I am not playing that much so have time to do something else. Yes, it is boring… and frustrating… like always when something is broken and everyone play with it… But I am still satisfied because I managed to hit Legend this month too, just needed to adjust my deck again after SC… meta decks would have no chance…
This time it got bland much faster sadly. I liked the miniset, but the package decks have no room to experiment with.
No game plays out the same, so no. And if it it was only 1-2 decks seeing 50% of the meta for an extended period of time, then maybe. But I see at least 4-5 different decks.
Personally, I’ve been encountering some new decks lately. Though, I feel it has been for the worst. I’ve been matched against a rogue and a shaman who both used Ysera as an OTK enabler.
The rogue managed to OTK me, from hand, at 35+ health (I used Renethal to start at 40 Health), on turn 4.
The shaman did so on Turn 6, but had enough damage to kill me a second time over.
I came to the forums to see if anybody is complaining about the same thing as I am, but I guess we’re just not experiencing the same matchups.
I’d take some old decks matchups over this new OTK nonsense.
I guess you mean standard ranked decks.
If i met the same decks, even the same person over and over, ofc it made me bored.
However from my point of view, there 're various decks on the ladder than 2 weeks ago.
Terran swarm shaman, terran control shaman, terran warrior, reno warrior, swarm aggro priest, protoss priest, protoss rogue, weapon rogue, hero power druid, dungar druid, taunt druid, elemental mage, protoss mage, zerg handbuff hunter, zerg discover hunter, zerg dk, zerg location lock, … there’re many matchup types we can face so i 'm not bored yet.
P/S: i’m at legend 600-1.2k NA. It maybe a bit different at your point but i think it’s not much different.
Yep been bored for a while. I’m seeing the same three or four decks every time I get up to do my dailies. And this is at legend. It’s like what else do you have to prove guys? There are other decks. You can’t get any more rewards. Try something else for a change
If you’re still trying to climb the ladder I get it. These decks are so busted you kind of have to. But for the love of God if you’ve already hit legend, throw me a curveball. Surprise me. Try something else
i just hit legend literally tonight. And made a post saying I think this current meta is the best I personally have seen in Hearthstone. IMO there are tons of viable decks and on the way to legend I’ve seen so many different and unique decks that I only saw once but crushed me. There’s the usual shaman terran spamming ships, battle cry shaman with the asteroids etc, terran warrior (with the bomb card ugh!!), warrior with nothing but gaining armour to slam you in the end, hero attack druid, dragon druid with that annoying putrified nest, elemental mage, protoss mage, warlock that cheats out a ton of huge giants and ultralisks, paladins that can swarm you with buffed minions, what I think is consistently the hardest to beat - death knight zerg, a dranei to the face deck, weapon rogue with either the lifesteal or the other weapon, priest making copies of your colluses or archons and cheating out super cheap protoss, a few secret hunters. These are the only ones I can remember in this moment, I’ve seen tonnes more and as I’ve died to them I thought ‘heh, clever, kudos’.
Most importantly even the most popular decks play out quite differently each time and strategy it feels to me plays a large amount in who wins or loses, which is how I got to legend with my hand on heart home-brewed deck (but its a bit easier here when many of the sc cards are auto include)
Yeah there isnt a whole lot of diversity with decks. It is always that way with Standard but seems worse lately. People use the same decks trying to get their dopamine fix.
The reason for these repetitive limited decks are that new cards are so powerful that older cards from previous expansions are obsolete.
With limited choices of cards to build, only some decks will be viable.
Repetition is the main reason that Hearhtstone massively bores me for ranking. I’m not saying it from a losing standpoint because I know how to play Terran Shaman.
Battlegrounds is way more fun this season especially because it’s anomalies so it pretty much kills P2W and it disrupts the people who only play cookie-cutter-like.
I only remember getting bored of Control Warrior, Handlock, Zoolock during Classic. I faced them so much I never played Warlock or Warrior.
Now if you get bored of Standard decks you can play Wild and if you get bored of Wild decks you can play Standard.
This game could be as fresh as a peach every month if they would just tinker with the bloody balance. A nerf and a buff here and there every month can keep this game exciting… but do they care? Nah
I’m struggling right now, and it’s because of this. Normally I’m fine, even if there’s only 4-7 viable classes and 10-15 common decks, it’s still a bit of variety. With this miniset and the way the factions work, it feels like there are only 3 decks, total. The class differences are too small, the set synergies too large, not enough room for variety or surprise in the mix.
Many people list around 15 decks and pretend that there is variety. They call things like swarm shaman and terran shaman “different” decks, when they share 25 cards. Or the frost zerg dk and double blood dk when the only difference is literally 1 card.
I prefer homebrew decks, if you are unable to build your own decks, i look at you as if your a small child
Well they almost never compete the netdecks. At least in standard.
One more thing to add, the game has changed from 11 different classes into just 3 factions.
Every DK is now Zerg.
Every Shaman is now Terran.
Every Warrior is now also Terran.
Every Mage is now Protoss.
Almost every Druid is also Protoss.
It is kinda boring.
If you play a number of games with terran swarm shaman and terran control shaman you could see the different. Despite they share about 20+ cards, the way you approach, deal with the board and tempoing is much different. The control version prefer to trade minion and keep board clear than face dmg.
Its mostly because they have different win-cons.
On other hand, terran warrior and reno warrior have much more different in cards choice, but they have the same purpose, that destroying enemy win-con.
