Tbh I am quite sick playing against Zerg dk and control terran shaman. These decks rewards braindead play like using viper/dirty rat on curve just to fish key minions in my hand, and most of the time I always lose the gamble, like by turn 2 they dirty rat my exarch Naielle instead of ceaseless expanse, or incindius while there are plenty of other minions. It’s frustrating.
For some other decks I am quite enjoying the meta, playing against Zerg lock is always fun, so does protoss priest. The funny thing is I think the current meta top dekcs are not nearly as oppressive as previous meta before miniset apart from decks like control terran shaman and Zerg dk. Zerg dk maybe a tier 2 deck but still they have all the most toxic play pattern in a single package.
Mage is generally terrible, so their best deck is now Elemental (but don’t play it after diamond 10 because it has a very low skill cap after that). The best use Colossus has is in Priest.
I was playing against rank 400 idk if that was dumb or genius. If it was the other way around with my Ceaseless expanse it’s probably gg as well since shaman had lock on.
So what would they do? Pop-up Book first turn then Dirty Rat for Expanse and then they would kill the expanse with Lock On and a second Pop-up Book? Sounds like a terrible hand that somehow works but then can’t play anything good unless they highroll draws.
It does though expose the nature of the Swarm Shaman-like decks that makes them good. Most of their cards are good in most situations even if they are not the best cards in power ceiling.
I don’t think the current iteration of control shaman brings pop up book, the idea is to fish any high value minion out of your hand like ceaseless expanse, incindius, aggramar, naielle or griftah, hope you have a bunch of board already, throw down rat and hope it hits high value target, then proceed with lock on and trade with the low cost minion. First turn scv/ coin starport is the best way to develop board. Ctrl shaman at the moment doesn’t have that many option for turn 1 apart from scv/starport/needlerock totem.
I guess you mean what D0nkey calls Defense Terran Shaman. It sometimes runs Pop-up Book and sometimes it runs 1 Rat only. It think it’s more or less misnamed because it’s not that it changes the character of Terran Shaman that much but mainly that it makes it much slower and much more complex because it has Fizzle and a Shudderblock package.
That rat strategy could generally be in various decks that aren’t extremely super aggro. Just have a board that can kill at least 8 health and just use and in most cases it works.
I think in that situation, it would be a wise choice.
Play enough game against handbuff or discover hunter at that rank, they should be aware that none keep ceaseless in starting hand. So the odd to fish out ceaseless is very low. The second worst case is fish out the giant.
Other than 2 above, anything else 'll be a plus for them, so they do that. It’s understandable i think.
i am playing discover handbuff hunter i always draw ceaseless on my 1st or second turn but the opponent never gets punished by playing rat somehow. i’m tired of this rng bs
Yes it’s definity bs, or someone did say “the game is rigged”.
Overall, the current shaman meta is the most adaptable to any situation than anyone else. So they are very popular at all ranks and (probably) easier to play.
whenever i played any terran decks whether it was shaman warrior or lynessa terran paladin i always rolled medivac. i have like 1000++ wins with shaman but tbh i always never enjoyed them due to rng mechanics, so does mage. this is the reason why i don’t play zerg DK as well.
yea people does this all the time, around top 2k legends this play pattern is starting to get more popular. it gets worse by top 1k and 500 since everyone and their mother plays shaman
The cream rose to the top. This is what I’m talking about. That’s pretty much all you see in standard because you’re not going to ladder with anything else
I think i encounter those decks and i was usually one turn away from beating them by playing disruption. You cant play a yolo dirty rat on them because the rogue brings a lot of bouncers and with the shaman you run the risk of droping him murmur and you have to kill him immediately, they are also starting to use the spell that gives you 3 1/1 fishes to protect themselves from disruption…
There is a 3 cost epic dragon that prevents cards from costing less than 2, at first i thought it was useless but now i have it in all my controller decks along with dirty rat, theotar and mutanus because buy you the time to do something…
Sorry to Tell It this way but i’m don’t know a better one to get the mensage correctly.
Other players aren’t there to entertain you.
Because of this you’re suposed to get Fun from what you play and not from what you play against.
There is nothing wrong with liking to see different decks but It isn’t the point of this or any other card game.
