What card do I need in my deck to beat this?
I don’t think its a 1 card answer. I beat Imbue Mage regularly with Libram Paladin. It has rush minions that I hold to get rid of Holotechnicians as soon as they are summoned. Once both technicians are gone, that deck struggles to remove big minions. Don’t over-commit resources to the board early - just enough to draw out the technicians and then kill them immediately. Altogether my deck has 4 of the Tigers that I can buff to restore health. And it is a good deck to go vertical instead of wide.
Reckless Apprentice makes going wide a death sentence. Just about any deck relying on that will lose unless it is very fast. And decks need some kind of removal to get rid of Holotechnicians (and Bran) as soon as they are summoned. Restoring life health is a big plus. All of which is why I don’t see the answer to beating Imbue Mage being 1 card.
Also, giving advice would be easier if you mentioned which deck you are playing or want to play.
Play aggro or concede and move on. Those are your two options. It’s really dumb. Hopefully its dealt with sooner than later.
I don’t want to imply that it isn’t broken but you can also beat them with slower stuff with the right amount of disruption in your deck and luck… I was playing amagaman/dark gift warlock with duplicates, double dirty rat/gnomeferatu, etc. (plus raise dead) and didn’t go bad, i was able to beat some in legend…
This is the only way if you dont like aggro…
I don’t care because messing up combos is my passion in wild…
It’s all about matchups with this meta. Aggro definitely works against it but then again so does wheel lock
Generally speaking the chance of someone beating an imbue mage with a slower deck is about the same chance as winning on a $10 scratch ticket. May luck be on your side haha
I tried the deck and cruised right up to rank 3 diamond , my only losses were against a highlander with disruption and reno all the works, and an aggro deck that got me turn 4. Last match I got 56? Missles in one move and still could have fired more , it is overtuned imho. Dont go wide late game is my advice and save up a OTK
Imbue pally is so fun. I don’t care that it’s even mid, it’s just a barrel of laughs to play. Once it starts popping off, it’s really great.
My Conspiracy Theory, is that they leave that deck in the game on purpose to drive people away from Wild (even the face of Reckless Apprentice is annoying). You see that deck and you feel certain Standard it is.
Aggro priest or libram paladin, also, otk paladin, aggro DH is also good.
I play a mage and I lose every time. I was thinking about making an imbued wisp mage so I can cheese my way to legend.
My mage is just a standard home brew cast spells and use some cards that works pretty well.
I’m in diamond.
They’re talking about Wild, with the minion that shoots hero power at all enemies
you can win a dollar on those, so lots of people win on those tickets, so lots of people beat imbue mage
By that logic, just closing the game is winning against imbue mage.
I ended up losing one more match to otk hunter with the buffed porcupine of doom, so 3 losses from r5 to legend, pretty strong deck. ( i used crew dh to climb to r5 , had faced it a bunch myself to see the tactics , it is pretty braindead honestly)
Similar to Uther Paladin either play aggro or concede. No point in playing against these broken solitaire decks when they win automatically without trying.
I think beating Imbue Mage with a non-Imbue Mage will be very hard. Best option is probably a Protoss/Secret Mage combo. The Protoss spells help you gain armor and kill the Holotechnicians. Colussus can be a good finisher, but there is not a lot of life steal options. And it doesn’t go vertical well. If you get lucky with Counter Spell, Explosive Ruins and Objection, you might have a chance.
But I just don’t think it will be fast enough most of the time. Mage doesn’t really have the right tools.
