Heartstone hasn’t worked on Macs for about 3-4 weeks now, so your problem is just a minor issue…
Same problem here, after switching to another app and coming back, i see the beachball cursor and Hearthstone is not responding according to Force Quit Applications (CMD+SHIFT+ESCAPE).
