Launching Hearthstone gets as far as the swinging doors, then declares “Failed to get update. Check network connection.”
I am running android-x86, Android 9 Pie, on a Dell All-in-One desktop computer. I was running some time in the last few months. When I tried to run the other day, it insisted that I "update". It directed me to the Google Play Store, where it downloaded a 50MB "update". Launching that produced the symptoms reported: It asked if I wanted to put Hearthstone data on my SD card. It warned me that that could cause performance issues. I declined, mostly because I don't have an SD card, and I don't want to find out what it means by SD card. After a brief pause, it insists "Failed to get update. Check network connection".
It was idiotic then: it's the same network connection I had just used to connect to the Google Play Store and download the so-called update.
I have since uninstalled Hearthstone and reinstalled Hearthstone a number of times. Nothing helps. I waited a few days, in case it was a problem with a Blizzard server. Nothing has changed.
I have found a number of posts on some forum complaining about the same problem. Some people claim that uninstalling and reinstalling fixes their problem. Some claim that it does not. Somehow, none of these people seems to have reported the problem here.
