No mention of whether the World Championship is online or LAN in some city in the world? We haven’t had an in-person competitive event since before COVID.

You underestimate how expensive those events are for both the organizers and the people attending. I have been to both in person and online and I def prefer online.

What a waste of company resources. Sporting events are supposed to be a show of skills not who has better luck.

They can definitely afford it, they flew people to France for the Starcraft event. It’s better for publicity if it’s a LAN event

So can anybody play in the new open qualifier? Will it be like playing a tavern brawl?
If so, I wonder how much it will cost?

Damn, this heavily favores ladder play to qualify for the higher tier events, which are all conquest tournaments. Unfortunate that Blizzard keeps sticking to that idea as if they think that will get people to play ranked more. The balance between ladder and open qualifiers was perfect in 2022 or whenever they last had qualifiers. There were 120 qualifiers per region per master tour and it was fantastic. Also i find it odd that they put no incentive to finish higher than 4th place for the opens as they’re calling them. That makes little sense. And just one open per tour is brutal.

Sweet. we can watch other people lose to RNG discovers instead of us.

My sentiments exactly.

If you have to bribe people to watch this crap with twitch drops or whatever, maybe nobody cares enough about it to keep pumping money into these events

Hearthstone is NOT an E-Sport no matter HOW you try to think it is.

For you. Some people like e-sports. They play for hours a day in a competitive way and they only care about high performance.

He just said Hearthstone isn’t. That’s just his opinion. I’m inclined to agree. Others may not.

Nice. You want to decide for others what is an e-sport, but you don’t want to be told they think it’s an e-sport.
